oh, i understand now. Good luck to you.

I heard Unipack chains were made of spaghetti and horse hair.

No. the hub is a "flip flop" and I'm only using the fixed cog. I have only ever ridden with a front brake when riding fixed and the free wheel cog on the other side will save me a little weight** (about the same as a little poo)** as it isn't and never will be used.
Interesting addition

think you need a bike to do the local tt

and paited with a spray can.
Mine was white (now a crappy flakey grey) and probbably an inch longer than it was. -

with that kind of weight saving you will go a massive 1 mph faster!!!!!
(Pedant mode on) Actually, weight is a very small factor in speed, as it only increases the rolling resistance of the tyre by a small amount, weight saving does make a nice difference in acceleration though ( F = MA and whatnot)
(Pedant mode off)
I'd hate to hear the things i'll say when i'm actually a qualified engineer...

I've read somewhere about a club that has a chopper for their tt and each week a different club member uses it. thinking a unipack club bike with the tyres running at 50 psi could be fun.

c'mon guys. Did nobody ever tell you a dogs for life not just for christmas. And believe me, It's a dog.
If the forum bike idea is still running there's a pre-owned one here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=130279917172
unipac with carrera saddle... they could be made for each other :-)
wait a sec, unipac aren't made by halfords are they?

• #761
is the unipack still alive?
-
• #762
alive and kicking
-
• #763
, hopping up, dropping down curbs
on 50psi will give you pinch punctures.
this is a joke right? your not One One posing as sco77w? In which instance i'd recommend a Swagger bike for TT, every club run needs some bling.

yes to the tyre pressure ( I do own a track pump)
Just think, skin suit, aero helmet and a unipack with cut down rised bars. -
• #765
glad i read (and searched for) all thsese unipack threads,
seems buying one would have made me a first class burk
-
• #766
turns out i am the 'burk'
i bought what turns out to be a package frame and half a crank set, charge bars afor £45 off my friend and built everything else up around it. Hours walking round brick lane to find fixed bits for cheap. Just replaced the BB aswell. Just angry that i've been a totall n00b. The only thing thats not a fucking pack bike is the frame. Now thinking i might aswell just get a frame and then i'll be rid of the pack for ever.
am i going to have a field trip to hell transfering everything??
-
• #767
the headtube size on em is something wierd like 1 3/8 rarther than 1" or 1 1/8 so you cant transfer the stem and that shit but i think everything else will be fine, not that you'll want any unipack components

I got stung by a unipack.
I have only one piece of advise, DONT GO NEAR ONE.
After 5 journeys on mine...
1x Snapped pedal from crank
1x Wheel warp complete with slack spokes
7x(YES 7) punctures...4 from the inside, the rim tape that they come with is, well, not rim tape.
2xFucked up nuts(on the wheels), the metal is so cheap that they melt in the wrench.I dont actually think they are made to ride, just to display in wanky shop windows in Soho..

There must be some kind of retail standard authority you can take something like this.

'The Forum' already owns one, but I guess it dissolved somewhere along the line because no-one knows what happened to it.
he wont be when his chain snaps
