I was wondering if anybody could possibly help me, I bought a Create bike (regrettably), absolute mistake as within the first week the bottom bracket broke. But when I try ride it as fixed the chain falls off when any weight is applied.. any advice would be great.

sounds like slack chain
un-do bolts on rear wheel, pull it backwards, tighten bolts when the chain can flex about 1 inch up/down on the middle
-
• #1579
have you fixed the bottom bracket btw?
-
• #1580
Even with a slack chain it shouldn't happen.
Does your chain break or just drop? Check your chain for stiff links, kinks etc.
Is your chainline straight after messing with the bottom bracket?

Take it to an independent bike shop. They should be able to help out. Find your local at http://www.lfgss.com/shops.html

Sorry, andyp made me say that

harsh, but perhaps fair
fix it up, enjoy it and ride it til it dies, then get something a bit more decent next time

You can make them work- but, and it's a big but, it will eventually fail.
Reen basically destroyed every component, replaced them, then the frame failed.

Oh my god, just been watching the gadget show and they did a comparison between a Dolan seta and a create BSO as if they were actually comparable! At no point did they even mention how shit the components were on the create

That seems to be a common recurring theme! Just look at how much shit they have to give away to get people to watch the damn thing. My own personal theory as to why he still has his job, is free rim jobs for any producer willing to extend his watertight contract

It was Otis, same bloke who did a cycle challenge in the Peak District on a moderately windy day using a time trial bike with deep section rims. Needless to say he looked like he was crapping himself trying to keep the thing under control and never once got himself into a tuck.
This week he kept saying how much he loved the Create and it was a perfect bike for riding round town. They are even giving one away in the Gadget show giveaway. This was just before waxing lyrical about his trainers being the next best thing to running in bare feet (clearly not tried the vibram five fingers then).

Also a vid (can't get it to work in the office so no idea if it is my tech at fault or theirs).
http://fwd.channel5.com/gadget-show/videos/challenge/gadget-triathlon-part-2The episode with the time trial bike he couldn't ride (http://fwd.channel5.com/gadget-show/blog/episode-12-extreme-wild) scrub to about 21 minutes in.

Listen if you've got beef with a mate it's far better to have it out in the open, get drunk and fight.
Buying them the bike is just uncalled for.

Hello people,
I've been of this scene for a while but I'm doing some research and would apreciate a bit of help.
What were the really shit bikes that came over from the far east and kept falling apart?? You dont see them as much as you used to but everyone went crazy over them - how shit they were!! I can't remember their name..
Has there been any other cheapies on the market since?
I saw these guys http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/bike-blog/2011/may/16/fixed-gear-bike-no-logo

Create
Glad you liked our cardboard bike Lee! That's my email graphic you posted and my colleague invented our little April Fools product. (I created the Bacon Inhaler which was also quite popular with the press!)
Still think the cardboard bike is safer than a Create/Sports Direct bike!
