Create bikes are really good. Excellent value for money, and probably exactly what you need. save yourself the hassle of looking around for the best deal, and go with the Create.

Well,,,, Im currently at Uni in Loughborough and use a Charge Plug 2010 as a daily driver, but on the weekend and few weekdays I have to go to london, (where I can stay at my 'rents house and commute to work). I dont want anything too flashy or expensive you see. I also have a '78 Holdsworth built up for sunny days, not one to be nicked, knifed or scraped.
I just wondered if the components were of average quality and represented a good value for money. There are a couple of guys on campus with them.... which to be fair dont look too bad(from a distance)... but never seen one up close.

They're truly awful.
Now you can close the thread.

i saw a young lady on a powder pink create going along the pavement when I was cycling home today. Almost made me as sad as the guy I saw on the baby blue foffa wearing pedal pushers, and pushing it along the pavement.
still, the pavement is probably the best place for them.

so in form, the plug and the create are basically the same. they're both otp bikes that come single-speed but can be made fixed, they're aimed at the same market and the frames look a tad similar, especially with the straight forks. this is where the similarities end unfortunately. nearly 100 percent of the components on the create are sub-standard, including the frame.
the frame is a modern-day equivalent to an old budget racer with stovepipe tubing, its made out of shite metal. the cranks, again, are made out of extremely low quality metal and have been known to shear-off. the hubs arent sealed, the spokes are weak, the rims are weak.
the brake calipers are stupidly weak and the crappy levers dont help the situation at all. the grips are literally plastic, they will ruin your lovely soft hands. the chain has been known to snap. i think the bottom bracket is one of the worst parts on the bike, a while a go, create where sending out shimano bb's to everyone with a problem for free.
dont buy a bloody create!
why would you want to downgrade from a plug? -

The Charge Plug is hardly anything flashly or expensive, it's a simple decent bicycle.
can't be as expensive as your car.

Atleast superjoe gave me info rather than abuse.
Just wondered if there was a market for cheap, good looking bikes, and consequently if someone were to buy a create, would their right arm be snapped off in replacing every component within the week.

• #1434
Oh yeah, edscoble....I did search create but then realised the info wouldnt reflect the high quality of opinion you could give me.......

i think they've actually upped their game a bit. it may take a couple of weeks or months for anything bad to happen, but it will definitely happen. it's not so much the annoyance of having to pay for new parts, they're just dangerous.

Well,,,, (where I can stay at my 'rents house and commute to work).
Just out of interest, how would you pronounce that? Rents? Runts? Rnts?
-
• #1437
seriously, just take the wheels off your bike and put it into your car. you could very easily take the forks, seatpost and handlebars+stem off as well. its definitely worth the effort.
and although presented in a rather straight fashion, ed is right, use your plug, get it a bit dirty, put some stickers on it and you'll be fine. use a decent lock as well.
@will, its pronounced rents. -

If you did search then there would have been no need for this because it would have been clear that create bikes are absolute crap.

Very dangerous irony for the casual viewer. People take this sort of stuff literally and before you know it, you've got another snapped crank embedded in someone's forehead, and it'll be on your conscience.

Albz: Don't try to save money when buying a bike. You'll get far less hassle and far longer enjoyment out of a good quality bike, even if it means that the initial outlay is greater. With the Create, you won't spend as much at the initial purchase, but guaranteed more as you're gradually forced to replace all the failed components with decent quality. Plus, they're really not fun to ride--they ride a bit like a blancmange on a bad hair day. Avoid. And follow the advice in clefty's succinct post above--it's all the info that you need in a nutshell.

Pretty much the majority of all parts on the market are manufactured in China..Taiwan.. then rebranded over here, (forget about america and japan). The idea of material superiority is either brand enforced or a reflection of the user's opinion. You all must agree that Create has created (sorry for that) a brand identity, of which people are buying for the look of the bike rather than the performance, function, consideration of the product intended purpose (of which due to the nature of materials and processes used the create bike pretty much has none except mild/leisure cycling).
I am aware of the concept that money buys you what you pay for.....Its not like my carbon bianchi appeared from the sky. Surely the create fills a requirement and market gap, other wise they would not exist.Upon reflection, I can fully understand all the comments made.. and from previous thought processes know that a bike on the 'bay would be more substantial than a create. Just wanted to feel the views toward and find out why they thought this.
Sooooo, If a brand appeared on the market, with a bike aimed at the £350 bracket with no named parts on it but looked the absolute tits....would you be intrigued?

I would hate to have a crank, in someone else's forhead, on my consience.
just imagine the therapy bill to sort that Existentialistic mess out..

Oh yeah....Its not like you cant buy the same components on brick*lane*bikes on internet traders from china from the same manufacturer for 1/100th the price for 100 units.....Just as well the logo cost 40 smacks.

You'd be advised not to get arsey after making this rookie error.
Is anyone bothering to neg rep these days?
I just might...And wait until velocio sees your over-use of punctuation. Tsk.

i just googled "create bike review" and Tenderloin's post came up as the top return.
Stay clear.
My advice is to look on the classifieds and pick up a bike there. You should be able to find a good beater for that price with decent components.
