Anyone looking to unload anything? Think XPS13

I need a new laptop/pad.
I want something 13" at biggest. I'd like a touch screen that I can use to annotate PDFs and write on. It would be good to edit word documents.
I don't need to it be super advanced as I've a MacBook Pro, but that's too heavy to lug to university.
I'd love to ditch pen and paper and take electronic notes. Is there a device that can actually do this properly?
Is an iPad the best choice, or is there a windows machine that's cool?

I'd thoroughly recommend a chromebook. I've had nothing but a good experience from mine.

^ Seconded. Mrs c00ps has both a Chromebook and a Lenovo Yoga. Both good (from the point of view of an occasional user of each). But the Chromebook seems a better bang for the buck.
(I have Lenovo Thinkpad as a work machine and it's pretty robust and will do more than I need)

Will the crime book last more than a few years?
Can you open and edit PDF? Never used one so guess I should.
I worry a chrome book is a bit too simple.
Do wonder if iPad Pro is good choice, only £500 from USA rather than £620 here.
Apple products do seem to last quite a few years. From my experience.

I've got an acer r11 chromebook and still not 100% adjusted to it but i'd second the switch, it's an awsome bit of kit for the price. 3 in 1 laptop, tent and pad. I think there is an R13 aka 13" screen version.

I'd say a Surface too. Pretty much everyone I know who has one is happy with it, otherwise things like the Lenovo Yoga ( http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/lenovo/1405290/lenovo-yoga-book-review-is-this-the-future-of-laptops ).
Chromebook could be a good shout though, something like this for annotating PDFs https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/kami-pdf-and-document-mar/ecnphlgnajanjnkcmbpancdjoidceilk?hl=en
The OS is pretty lightweight so they don't age that quickly and Google definitely seem committed to the OS. -

I like the CB but the Google docs word variant doesn't export to .doc(x) well and fucks the formatting.
Caused a few issues when submitting my first module essay and had to copy/paste to word and redo headers and footers. -

I'd say go for a dell chromebook - mine feels very well built and the battery life is outstanding. I've got the desktop PC for heavy lifting if I need it.

The surface looks perfect for my needs, as I can excel and word properly on it. Plus use ti to make notes.
What processor would I need? No idea about them. Happy to spend more upfront to future proof it and make it last a lot longer.

guys, you think i can do better than an asus zenbook pro for less money? (this one is 1200pounds) i wanted less than 1000pounds
-
• #650
surface pro is awesome . shame windows 10 is just terrible, especially on a tablet.
plus today it's put itself to sleep twice, while i was writing in one note.
If you can wait until New Year, I'll be selling a nearly new X1 Carbon (1st gen), with Windows 10.
