Sprocket, what happen with the people who has to play too?
Should players in teams participating in the tourney be refs? Just asking. Personally, my view would be no.
Also, on Saturday we had an issue with a goal that wasn't - I know that there was a lot of talk, but I didn't get a proper call either from the line ref or the goal ref one way or another, and by the time I realised the mistake, it was way too late to change the score. It kind of came under the majority vote system of reffing which is not one I would recommend for the Euros.

The plan is to have a designated line ref for each game, who will be non player. Tournament players will be used as goal refs where needed, but only to cover and give others a break.
There were some issues highlighted at Cambridge, particularly the number of goal refs. We are going to have 1 designated goal ref for each goal and they will be the only ones responsible for calling the goals. Hopefully this will ease any tricky decisions. -

That makes good sense.

+1 either you have 1 or 3...
In Cambridge they... had 2.
I think the centre line ref should have final call, and also be controlling the score board and time.
also that the 30 second call and the 10 second countdown worked really well.
321 polo, 5mins, 1min, 30secs, 10secs.
if this is kept to less players will call out asking for the time.

ooo and another thing that worked well was the goal post markings with a line drawn between the cones too. I'm gonna bring some left over line marking paint to NE tonight.
-

Yep, yep and yep.
All these will be part of the line refs duties.
Good sugghestions Ray, keep em coming.

Yea, we're going to keep the ref's in court-side perspex chambers that are pumped full of oxygen just like in American casinos (it keeps you sober-ish so you drink more).
If they make a bad call, the chamber slowly fills with Southwark sewage (they have a surplus!) replacing the oxygen.

Guys. I haven't been following this thread, but one of my mates is coming from the states to watch the Euros, and he's down for reffing. He's a polo player. His name is Phillip. Please put him down for wherever you need him.
