  • important before offering your services this week...READ the RULES. if you dont understand anything ask.

    thanks alot!!!

    hugs

    Shins

  • do we get cheap polo shirts?

  • Okay. Here's question #1:

"Deflections, not starting from an offensive shuffle, count as a goal for the offensive team.
(Deflection means a hit coming off of a defensive player’s bike or person whether purposeful or accidental)"

So its not a goal if it hits the defensive bike/person and comes from a shuffle? Okay. That makes sense.

"If a team puts the ball into their own goal, it is a goal for the opposing team."

How are we interpreting that? Just from the defensive mallet? What about mallet then bike? Or offensive shuffle onto defensive mallet?

  • do we get cheap polo shirts?

i'll confirm thursday. thanks for offering your services. ;)

  • and have a read... and we'll have a Q&A on thursday. oh and another hug.

  • Thats my point. "Directed" or "contacts"? So a shuffle that is "directed" by a defensive player is a goal? But a "deflection" isnt?

  • ^ is hugging Bill a requirement of being a line ref?

    if so im out.... :P

  • Mrlemon

you get to stroke Ray's face as compensation

and once you get past the whiskers Bill uses Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream on his lips.

This probably won't count for the euros as there will be nets, but..

The ball is behind the goal and then hits the wheel of the player defending the goal (from behind the line) and goes back through the goal....

is this counted as a point?

Defensive shuffle > bike = goal. Offensive shuffle which strikes defensive mallet, as opposed to the other way round = no goal.

  • So it's a question for the refs to call a shuffle as defensive or offensive?

  • This is kind of how we play already (I think?), but it's never really been an issue...

  • This probably won't count for the euros as there will be nets, but..

No. When playing un-netted goals, if the ball passes back through the goal, the ball must be touched twice OR come out of the 'D'.

  • Bill, even if it is 'touched' by a defending player?

Red shot not a goal, green shot goal.

(if I understood you correctly, hops)

  • Yes, thanks Tom. Therefore the goal that Emilie called against us in Cambridge was NOT a goal! Grr!

  • Defensive shuffle > bike = goal. Offensive shuffle which strikes defensive mallet, as opposed to the other way round = no goal.

Thats fine. But that isnt exactly what the euros rules say:

"If a team puts the ball into their own goal, it is a goal for the opposing team."

In other words, if its a shuffle and it "strikes" a defensive mallet, its not a goal, but if the defensive mallet "puts" it in, it counts? Thats a very arbitrary distinction, and I dont want to put any line ref in the position of having to call that, which is why I brought it up. Here might not be the best place though..thursday?

  • Thursday.
