Hayfever

  • Think mine has started up now, started to get itchy eyes over the last few days.

  • Absolutely dying today. First time I’ve had it in years.

  • I had it bad Monday from some trees, finding if I can get through a day with no meds it calms down a lot.

  • There's something in the air today, for sure.

What is pollinating right now - birch is what usually gets me, but they shot their bolt weeks ago.

    Alder maybe?

    Also, this site is awesome:

  • Horny trees are murking me today.

  • Turns out I just had a brutal cold.

  • I don't want a face anymore

  • Today was not good. Eyes heavy, sneezing all day...

  • There must be something in the air that my body doesn't like today as my throat is in a constant state of scratchy, my eyes are on fire and I'm on the edge of a sneeze at all times but no sneeze is coming.

  • So, anything folks here can recommend to deal with the symptoms? Have been taking some 1-a-day tablets before going to bed which seems to help a bit.

Anyone tried antihistamine eye drops? Any better than standard tablets?

  • Apart from taking loratadine (seems to help me this year) religiously and having fexofenadine as a backup I also use Avamys nose spray on the days that I feel like I want to sneeze first thing in the morning. Seems to help. I can’t really recommend eye drops as I’ve never used them. It’s a lot of trial and error with this and every year seems to be different. Fuck hay fever.

  • Eye drops are good. Very handy if you’re having an itchy eye attack. Useful as a preventative if you’re about to head outside - I always do eye drops before heading off on a ride.

If itchy eyes is a big symptom of your hayfever - it’s the worst of mine - then they are at least worth a try. They can be used in combination with tablets and nasal sprays. Like all antihistamines, they’re not a perfect cure, but they can really ameliorate the worst symptoms.

  • First bad day of the year for me. Was fine in Epping Forest on Saturday, but today nose and eyes are being attacked.

  • Last few days have been awful in the mornings and evenings.
Fexofenandine 120mg and an extra loratadine for good measure a day.
Dread to think how much I'd be suffering without both.

  • I could scratch my eyes out. Terrible.

  • Mine has been okay so far... even no real issues being outside for the whole day for Ride London last weekend... until 2 days ago, when suddenly it went into fucking hyper bullshit mode. Feeling like absolute ballbags today. Not a fan.

  • Montelukast has been a revelation for my wife the past two years. She barely gets any symptoms any more and used to suffer massively. Would highly receommend any serious hayfever sufferers to ask their doctor about it.

  • This is the same combination of meds I've settled on this year but it seems to come with a healthy dose of brain fog. I sleep like the dead and have started snoring like a cunt, wife not impressed.

Looking back it's been thirty years since I was first diagnosed with hayfever but I think it's time for another visit to the GP, I can't function.

  • Yeah, mornings are pretty grim.
Takes ages to wake up, compounded by the kids also having hayfever and being grumpy.

The 3 year old was swabbed and he has a bacterial sinus infection as well at the moment, so he's struggling a lot poor thing.

  • Holy fuck it’s bad today.
Irritated lungs, feels uncomfortable to breathe.

  • Yeah, it's not great at the moment.

  • Horrible today. Woke up at 7.30 with a sneeze, took antihistamine, eyes are itchy as fuck. Was gonna head out on the bike but have binned that idea off.

  • When I cough, its like I can taste my lungs.

  • Anyone else starting to feel the beginnings of hell?

  • ✋ always catches me off guard and takes me a while to remember what is happening and i'm not getting a cold
