Proper suffering this year. Its been affecting my breathing too, to the point I've had to borrow an asthma pump.
Anyway, does any-one here know which pollen-types are active at the moment? I'm usually hayfever-ish around May/June, so it could be lots of things. I think it might be the grass or trees. Incidentally, I don't get it anywhere other than the uk, specifically London.
Finally, does any-one know where to get local honey in Hackney/Stoke Newington?

Late May/early June is the first big wave of grass pollen, and that's the one which would be completely debilitating for me without medication. I'm 'aggravated' by tree pollen - I think most people find the stuff scritchy-scratchy on various bodily tissues - but not particularly allergic to it.
I think the first tree pollen wave hits in March or something.
There can often be a grass pollen 'aftershock' in early July too.

I'm one of the really lucky people who can take Piriton with no or negligible CNS effects- whoopee! I'm also one of those who get crappy itchy eyes for about, uh, 6 months......
My regime is piriton twice daily, flixonase (corticosteroid nasal spray similar to beconase) and chromoglycate eye drops- cheap and about as effective as any I've tried. It works fairly well, I resent being on the shit for months on end. As above it helps to wash your face when you came back from a ride/ being outdoors, and do all you can to cut down on exposure- hard if you commute by bike at the two pollen peaks in the day!
Interesting that people feel systemic effect from the minute doses of corticosteroids that you get in nasal sprays.....

Last year I was crippled by hayfever and was suffering asthma attacks because of it, beconase was brilliant and pretty much stopped it. Been fine this year with only a bit of sneezing and mild itchy eyes.
I also find wearing contact lenses helps with the itchy eyes.

One of the food shops on Broadway Market used to stock some.
I suffered from Hayfever for the last twenty years, this year though, I'm fine. Woo Hoo! It makes the Summer so much more enjoyable.

I haven't had hayfever for years but I've been getting it this year, itchy, short of breath... It's either that or I need a shower/my heart's about to explode...

Nothing is real, you just need to tune out ALL pollen frequencies... PM me, I have a list... I nailed it today, just a little testicular itchiness... That may not have been pollen related...

Can I ask a question regarding hayfever;
I've never suffered from hayfever before but have recently had a really blocked up nose/ throat and my ear is constantly ringing (hurted at first but now just annoying), my question is does this sound like hayfever symptoms or something else?

Definitely not the hayfever I know and loathe

I thought I had avoided it this year. Last night my eyes were streaming and it was getting into my throat and lungs. Also had a nightmare morning.
I don't like taking antihistamine so I normally just suffer and moan -

You'd be amazed by how changing diet effects hayfever.
Especially dairy. It's not been as bad since I cut it out.
I used to get really bad hay fever. I still get it a little bit, but only occasionally. I share Todd's experience with dairy, too. I went vegan in 1999 and every year after that, my hay fever got better. It didn't vanish instantly, but in 2003 or so I remember suddenly realising in June that I hadn't had many symptoms. If you Google for 'vegan' and 'hay fever', you'll find quite a lot of discussion of it. No idea if it's true (I don't understand what causes allergies), but there seems to be some scientific evidence for it.

Suffered badly since age 8 onwards, when I quit my desk job and spent 2008 outdoors it was easier to deal with, last year only a few days of nose spray /tablets. This year occasional sneezing/ itchy eyes but as yet no meds.
Interestingly whilst I'm not vegan, not even veggie, I eat a "vegan rich" diet since 2008 (only occasional meat, fish & dairy), but hadn't linked this to the improved abililty to deal with pollen.

My going vegan 10 years ago had little/no effect unfortunately. Symptoms only lessened in the last few years.
Well this year it is time for fexofenadine 140mg again ... I got just enough tablets to tide me over til I a prescription again.
Btw, get this shit ... It works .. I have the hayfever that if I don't have tablets I am pretty much incapable of doing anything. So ask your doctor for "Something stronger", it is great and it works and I don't have any tiredness etc etc. Instead of having a month of feeling shitty, I have 1 day of feeling slightly bunged up.... massive improvement.
