They're a bunch of lazy, good-for-nothings Sam, that's why.

The effectivness of breakaways has been seriously reduced by the advent of radio contact. Shame really.
Also having someone to pop to the team car for water most be pretty decisive in the hard mountain stages.I would like to see a pro tour race stripped down to the basics. No radios, water only from people at the side of the road, neutral service vehicles only. A real test of a team where everyone is in the saddle.

Also, as the popularity of bike forums shows.
Cyclists dont feel secure unless they have a group of fellow cyclists with them, to confirm that they are indeed using/wearing the 'right' gear.
Soon Garmin will install a browser in their bike computers, so that individual cyclists can gain this respect from their peers with having to drag a bloody great peloton around.

I am warming to Cadel Evans. Is this wrong?
His team is, however, never going to allow him to win. He needs a better team.

I think Sam was joking.
Busted.

Hmm.. 17 stages to go.. let's just wait and see.

It's OK until he speaks and that'll set the dogs off.

That's happening this year - the no radios bit on July 14 and 17. I like the idea. Wonder whats going to happen to the race though, will the GC contenders keep the pace high and not allow anyone off the front at all? Will the domestiques spend half the race going back to the team cars for instructions? Should be interesting.

He is simmering nicely this year, an amusing 15 second interview with Ned Boulting yesterday portrayed just this.

We only adopt kiwis if they win. When they win I will be praising Australia's glorious Tour victory, don't you worry.

Oh.... "Correspondingly, staff traveling in team support cars will no longer be allowed to watch TV coverage of the race." Guess they really are on their own then. I'm sure someone will try and bend the rules though. Maybe a few DS with audio commentary plugged into their ears.
