Steve adoubletap spoke to Landlord Steve at the Coach & Horses last night about using the upstairs function room for afternoon TdF viewing pleasure... He say yes... Comfy sofas, big telly and a bar... Sounds like a great idea to me... Likey?

I can't do that... It's either both or a strange ear twitch...

I can't see Contador staying with Astana regardless of whether Bruyneel or Armstrong stay or go. With Vino back in the fold Astana have got no chance of getting a Tour de France invite from ASO next year.
That's a good point, I think you're right. But wherever he goes - Caise D probably - he won't be with Bruyneel and Armstrong so I still think they are unlikely to help him. I think Armstrong is the only rider who could pretty much gaurentee being able to 'magic up' a team and the better he does in this Tour the more likely it becomes.
EDIT something has gone wrong with my spelling.

A friend had dinner with Jonathan Vaughters a couple of weeks back where he confirmed that they'd discussed signing Contador when it looked like Astana would fold last month. Apparently it got so far that the team had sent Contador bikes and kit. Caisse d'Epargne are also going to need a new team leader very soon. Contador must be hoping that one or both of these teams give him some help over the next couple of weeks.
It also shows Armstrong in his true light, a total cunt. His pride and monstrous ego is such that he's happy to scupper the chances of his team mate winning. WAC.

What time?
I was thinking for the mountain stages... Would be up for it on Friday, happy to go down to City Road tho'... Don't think Steve'll open up the upstairs bar just for us, Dwayne... :]

Yesterday just showed him to be a bit smarter than Contador IMO, he got in the 1st part of the split peloton by realising what was happening, Contador ought to wise up to situations like that

It shows where Bruyneel's loyalties lie. hate to stick up for Armstrong but Contador was never likely to help him was he? Armstrong/Bruyneel may just be a bit more ruthless than Contador.

the best thing about having swine flu this week, is that:-
- the boss will not bother me for a whole week
- i can watch the tour de france live and uninterrupted in the comfort of home
- my children are too unwell to complain about watching British Eurosport
- the boss will not bother me for a whole week

Hincapie is alleged to have told Armstrong what Columbia were about to do. If AC is not smart then the same can be said for all the other GC contenders, as they missed the move too.
Armstrong will get his comeuppance when the race hits the mountains.

So Armstrong has more friends in the peloton that AC, all part of being an experienced rider IMO. Agree he will prob cop for it in the mountains, though LA may well be in yellow this evening.

Oh does anyone know if it's stright forward times for the GC in the TTT, or are they still using the Discovery killer from the last one, where even if you win by 3 minutes, you're only allowed 30 secs advantage ?
-
• #340
I think Armstrong has more friends in Columbia than AC. I can't see Astana taking enough time out of either Saxo Bank or Columbia to get the jersey tonight, but we'll see.

Too far away. Bollocks. I'm actually considering a one month Eurosport online subscription for viewing at work purposes alone.

Dunno about the live coverage, but watched the highlights on Sat evening at a mate's on-line, loads of poxy advert breaks, nearly all of which were Eurosport self promotions.

OK, so where are the good quality, stable, and high-screenable video streams?
I'm not sure I can do with a little Flash box again.
I second this request for information. -

3 days and already my hopes of a Cavendish tour de force and the plotting and intrigue of the big ego's is starting to pan out. all it needs now is the conformation of Evans status as sports nutty as a fruitcake nearly man, with a very public show of strangeness (hopefully involving props such as a cuddly toy, marker pen and a small child dressed in astana kit).
the racing has been great too. -

Sigh, the internet has failed me... I'm signing up to Eurostar. £3.99 for the month can't be all bad.

hehe... I've put our URL in there... we're not really a partner, but I wonder if anyone notices at their end.

As the interweb has failed you I have stopped trying.
3.99 isn't worth worrying about.Cheers VB.

This year's TTT Rules..
The riders reach the most impressive average speeds when they ride in groups. In the latest team time-trial stage organised between Tours and Blois in 2005, the Discovery Channel riders set a record: 57.32 km/h on a 67.5 km-long stage. Team time-trials are back on the Tour de France this year during the Montpellier stage. For the occasion, the rules have undergone a major change: the time recorded for a team will be the time of the fifth rider. For those riders who are left behind during the team time-trial stage, their own time (real time) will be applied and taken into account for the individual general standings. The organisers have decided to go for a relatively short stage (39 km) around Montpellier to limit the consequences of the cancellation of this “comprehensive insurance”. http://www.letour.fr/2009/TDF/LIVE/us/reglements.html

According to the rider Christophe Le Mevel it was Contador who actually let the gap open up. Le Mevel said that he was on Contador's wheel, Contador was on Armstrong's wheel and couldn't keep up with Armstrong in the crosswind once Columbia put the hammer down and the gap opened.
It was no surprise that Popyvich buried himself for Armstrong, he was close to retirement until Lance came back to Astana and told Bruyneel to sign him. Zubeldia was a surprise though, he's a nailed on team man so it must have been an order in his earpiece from Bruyneel to do his turn in the break.
As for Contador's likely destination for next season, I wonder if Dave Brailsford would be interested? Although Contador's name appeared in Operacion Puerto it was only in conversation between other riders and there are apparently no .piti or .valv style links. Sky are going to be the richest team, they're guaranteed a Tour place and it would give Murdoch an almost instant return.
