  • In Evans, I feel I spend most of my time explaining things to the staff, who normally stare balnkly at me like I asked for a "ride on a horsey please"... the general nodders' bike store staff haven't a clue that foot retention is essential etc for fixed.. and really don't care. You'd have to write letters to higher levels to get anything to change. But If you think it's a real health and safety issue, it can be done!! - Just mention Claims direct when contacting.

  • i've been riding fixed without my feet clipped in, or toestraps since Thursday.. i've had no problems what so ever stopping.

    O RLY?

    Debate over.

    ;-)

  • curiously, what clipless pedals do you guys recommend? i would like the option to be able to cycle in normal shoes as well

I got Shimano A530 or A630 (I can't read clearly on the pedal). They're pretty good. For a newbie to clips, they give me the option of unclipping early and pedallig on flats up to the lights, or some other dismount.

I rode them tonight on just flat pedals, when going for a pootle with Princess Pashley. It's the first time I've ridden on the flats in a couple of weeks and they were fine. For proper spee-work, I'd want cleated shoes. For an amble to get dinner and amble back, they were great.
