Super, thank you.
Would you happen to know if your friend has ever pitched it without the inner?
Alpkit say this is possible but I can't see it being done anywhere.
Small entrance/porch has been mentioned as pretty much the only negative elsewhere. So I'll keep that in mind. -

I don't know but I doubt it. I THINK you might need a 'footprint' mat to slot the ends of the poles into, as they usually slot in to the tabs at the corners/ends of the inner? Afraid I can't remember in enough detail.

I think you are right. I was asking because I couldn't see how it would be possible with the pole set up as you said.
-

Do you get a footprint only ground sheet included? My Naturehike/aliexpress thing did and it's really useful. It' doubles as my lunchtime picnic mat. Much luxury.

What did you go for in the end?
I'm starting to dream about some summer touring with my eldest and need a tent. Have three large family tents but nothing I'd dream of taking on a bike. -
• #1507
Sorry if I missed it upthread, which one did you get?
-

The footprint is sold separately*
I'm really after something that pitches outer only.*Is a £15 add on.

Think it's called the nature hike cloud up 2.
Its a two man, but really a roomy one man. I got the grey lightweight version. It's lasted me OK, but not much use. Its is very light for a sub £100 tent. Others have reported pole issues.

This is true of all two man tents.
-
• #1512
True. You know it's tight when you wouldn't even want to share with your well washed wife, let alone a fellow sweaty/soggy mountain biker.
-
• #1513
Yeah. That's an issue with the industry overall. N-1 is the correct capacity until you hit the "yurt" category.

cheers man shall investigate. I've been really happy with either My outdoor research hopoed bivi, or my Rab one, but looking at a tent for two of us for upcoming trips this year.

haha

Yeah, like I said the two man would be tight for a planned double occupancy, but they do a three man too.
We take it on trips where we're aiming for bothys, for use as our emergency bailout, but not had to double up in it yet.

I went for, paying the rent and electricity bill. Sadly.
The hilleberg looked good. And would be.

N-1 is the correct capacity
N/2 works better once you get above 3 person ratings.

I dig the look and price of this tent.

Used my trusty Terra Nova Laser Competition again this weekend, had it seven years. It’s tiny but it bloody works. Sub kilo, got it second hand, it’s been a brilliant buy.

One of the best things I've ever bought, got mine about 7 years ago heavily discounted and its been great every trip
A friend does and I have used his for one night - very light, packs quite small, a good tall space inside, smallish porch area though. Easy assembly with two poles. All round a nice tent!
