Glad to hear that, it's on the specification list, brakes and brake hood levers;
Front Brake:Tektro forged alloy, dual Teflon pivot
Rear Brake:Tektro forged alloy, dual Teflon pivot
Brake Levers:Tektro forged alloy, ergo designOddly enough, come with track drop, much like the Fuji Track 2.0 (didn't show in picture but did come with the same brakes/levers in person).
sumo, their popular Allez have a similar design;

to me the allez and the langster look almost identical geometry wise. might just be my eyes though.

Hi All,
Just bought a Langster 2011 bike and love it, but as with everything I want to change a few bits.
but not sure if to go for lighter components or some retro bits.
Its my first time in the road bike afray as been a MTB-er.
Just wondering peoples opinion.

Don't worry we sorted it for you.

Burton, your threads are insightful and poetic. I have sent you a picture of my cock and balls by way of gratitude.

:-( My post got lost - must have hit submit just as the merge happened. Braker said it better though!

Braker I look forward to the picture....
I have done what everyone else has done and changed the pads which have made a difference but feel that there should be abit more stopping power.

^ If you want to change anything on a Langster, change the wheels.
-
• #863
a dual pivot calliper on the front might help.
doesn't need to be expensive. -

I have been trying to look for some wheels, but was wondering what is the best combo to get. Halo seem to be nicely priced but the weight is still around 2kg.
skive - so a expensive brand is a waste with these bikes?

This. Honestly, wtf were they thinking? The wear pattern on my brake pads makes them look like lego bricks. Burton, you might also want to tighten your brake cables as well as changing the pads in the interim - if they're anything like mine then they'll be nearing the end of their travel out of the shop. It makes a slight but perceptible difference.
The main thing is to change the wheelset, though.

maybe not a waste.
your bike so do with it what you want but a tiagra front caliper would be ample and a good starting point.
start there and work up.
replace bits with better bits when they wear out.

This. When I changed the shit Specialized calliper for a second hand £10 Sora I noticed a world of difference. Varno does good wheels for a decent price (use the search), change the shit mondo tyres unless you like punctures, pretty much everything else is decent kit and do what Skive says and replace as it wears out.

The wheelset is very heavy, and really doesn't show how light the Langster is.
A good open pro/ambrosio hubs wheel make a world of a difference, cheapest set you can get is from Dave Hinde.

Yes there does appear to alot of throw before any action on the brakes, will change this when I get home.
maybe not a waste.

Thanks for what I should be looking at, did some searching and found some people have changed to Mavic SSC and SRAM Rival calipers.

The seat Clamp looks abit weak to me, but then if it does what it needs to.

Yes I have heard the frame is light, just looked on their website thanks for the heads up on that.

If you liked the brake hood levers, but want a more comfortable one - SRAM S500 worth looking at.
-
• #871
I have just been looking at them before seeing your post.
-
• #872
Can anyone help me with a random one?
Langster rear hub, knackered one of the bearing cover washers... need a spare!
New wheels sound like a good idea though... creaky, grinding, clangy dross -
• #873
Does anyone know what the standard weight the wheelset on a 2011 Lang is?
Just been looking at Token wheelset among others.

I've got a 2007 Langster and was using the original rear wheel until last spring (the front got stolen). The wheels aren't that bad, though I did have a few spokes go. Weight wise they are pretty much identical to the Miche jobs that come with Condor Pistas. It's the "deep v" lookalike ones which are hefty, which the 2011 model doesn't have.
Change the tyres though. And I'm still using the original brakes as well. -

What is a good lightish hub/wheelset? That could be used for daily and training.
Has everyone stuck with the same gearing on their Langsters?
^^ looks like they copied the new latest Lavoro with that top tube.
