I hope he's feeling OK, there seemed to be a pattern in his autobiography of working his balls off to straighten out his emotions followed by a big crash after he achieved his goal.

16 spokes is the minimum I believe (per wheel, not each :O)).
those wheels have already broken an hour record - he lent them to darren kenney, who set the para-cycling record in february, at the world champs i think.

he built it himself so maybe not savvy with welding/brazing martensitic steel.
plus he didn't need the lightest available as there is a UCI weight limit for the bike. -

953 is not for lugs I think, only tig welded I read somewhere I think?
