Oh and this is what I PMd Corny earlier: -
Corny
I was off sick yesterday, but followed the debate in the thread on my iphone. For me it turned out as I expected it would, so I wasn't bothered. For me it was all about people sitting in the sun and having a drink/smoke while listening to some nice grooves - I didn't expect dancing until, perhaps, later in the evening. That it didn't transpire, didn't really matter for me. But I guess some (Scott, Phil) had different expectations.
Ben is a miserable fucker at times, but he does have an ongoing issue with noise and neighbours and has to be careful for the sake of his licence. For that reason I doubt he would let us a) move the decks and speakers to the front of the bar or b) rig up any speakers outside. The options seem to be either sticking with Bar Story as it is (the gallery is OK, but not the nice lay out that the bar is), or to find a different venue. I'm easy with either or both. But Bright Times seems to be just right for a lazy Sunday afternoon in the sun with some good music to get the vibe right, a club night is something else - and a lot more work.

It has nothing to do with how many people the 'unhappy dj's' brought...or how many lovely ladies were there....it's nothing to do with wanting to be superstar dj's and rock a packed crowd.
Really?
If you want a sausage fest that can be arranged. For me a lot of the above is important in my decision on where I'd frequent.
If you bring more people that are totally there for the music- not socialising with others, not drinking, not appreciating the weather just there for the music that may helped build a wall of bodies to absorb some music thus allowing you to turn up the volume. They would also have drawn more people indoors thus making it impossible for the owner to turn down the music.
You've had a moan about nobody being there to hear you then you say,
'it's nothing to do with wanting to be superstar dj's and rock a packed crowd.'
I'm confused.it's kind of pointless having DJ's...you could have played the bright times cd's and nobody would have been remotely bothered.
This is where I take issue. I would have been bothered and so would many others. This is what you seem to struggle to 'get'.
Sorry about the huge taxi fares you incurred, its all about the musical brevity dontchaknow?

He was there, you didn't recognise him because he had inexplicably covered his face with red paint.
lies.
He said that was a reaction to a rare steak. I reckon he hadn't actually killed the cow at the time.
lies.
So explain your smooch with the Japanese geezer...
horrible lies.

@Mr Smith: No Bright Times, no talk.
the whole bright times thing is a bit above my radar as i don't understand how putting one record on after another has been elevated to some kind of revered art form, however perusing some of the tracklists reveals a goldmine of rhytmic pulsating choonz to soothe the soul and not agitate an irritable bastard like me into saying "what the fuck is that noise?"
obviously people have 'issues' with the venue but the pics of that white arch with a bit of space outside and some railings for bike locking look like a good place for an inclusive (i.e all ages and musical tastes) party?
i'm not going if that tosser chris evans is there though, especially after what he put the lovely billy piper through.

If you want a sausage fest that can be arranged. For me a lot of the above is important in my decision on where I'd frequent.I'm referring to my criticism having nothing to do with any of that.
You've had a moan about nobody being there to hear you then you say,
'it's nothing to do with wanting to be superstar dj's and rock a packed crowd.'
I'm confused.Again...it's nothing to do with people hearing 'ME'...i'm talking about the music as a whole....all the dj's....all the music...again for the simple reason that i assumed the music would be the main thing about the bright times gig based on the fact that the bright times thread is all about the music.
This is where I take issue. I would have been bothered and so would many others. This is what you seem to struggle to 'get'.
I don't struggle to 'get' any of what you're saying. I'm saying that most of the people i saw there were happy chatting away all night...so i fail to see how having cd's playing instead would have changed that.

*because you can't tip your head at a CD player and tell it how much you like a particular tune, and I feel a bit daft pointing at an ipod and mouthing 'top tune' …
I think you are overlooking how many people were digging the grooves, yup there was a lot of chatting and socialising but the venue and weather dictated that - it saddens me a little that you and JimJams seem to think that because you haven't got a horde of acolytes trying to peek at your pressings that people are not being moved and grooved by your sets…
