strip it, clear coat, swap out the front forks for some decent carbon jobbies and I think it would make a pretty rad bike
If it's straight. The seat post fits, the headset is snug, the threads are good etc, etc.

Apart from the stupid decals, looks fine to me too if you're looking to build up a cheapo.
Much better than riding round on a piece of shit vintage steel frame like lots of people seem to lust after.

thats a controversial statement. surprised a few people havent gone mental.

I'd ride one, but would have to take off the tribal decals first.

i think the head tube logo looks naff as well. looks like some spoof of some medieval English flag or something.

i meant all decals....

started off by writing "shite decals" but changed it for purposes of unneccessary potty mouthedness

turns out it was necessary....

anyway, this was already discussed a while back on the visp thread.....

Hands up, it was intended as an antagonistic statement. I don't really mean that as I stated.
I do think some people sometimes get set in their ways and pay a lot for a not particularly good vintage frame, just because they can say it is vintage where they would have got a nicer to ride frame for their money if they had gone modern. Only some people though.

Also, I'm way off the other end of the scale. I'm a proper bike chav. If its not plastic and slathered with decals then I probably won't like it. I know, I know...I have no taste.

Has someone already bought a TRAPP or a TRATP? :D
I'm about to order TRAPP for a second beater.
-

The visps look alright, but I think I'd probably prefer to get a Dolan pre cursa and a set of second hand carbon forks for only a few quid more.

i've just read this on someones blog...
Now in all seriousness guys, DO NOT BUY VISPs because it seems that EU officially labels selling them as dumping and charges extra sanction duty of 48.5% on importing them:
"COUNCIL IMPLEMENTING REGULATION (EU) No 990/2011
of 3 October 2011
*imposing a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of bicycles originating in the People’s Republic *
of China following an expiry review pursuant to Article 11(2) of Regulation (EC) No 1225/200"mean anything to anyone?

Actually mr.Pocky (guy who bought a road VISP here in Finland) fucked up the with the customs first because he had wrong TARIC code, but at the end he had to just pay 23% taxes and 4,7% customsfee with the right TARIC code, so I think it is still reasonable priced, about bit over 200€ in the end.
Pocky told that because VISPs are made in Taiwan, not in China and the sanction doesn't affect for the items (like VISPs) which are manufactured in Taiwan....btw, I ordered a TRAPP after all :D damn its ugly, also waiting for carbon fork for it.. I was bit suprised that my order didn't go through customs, so I didn't need to pay any customs fees or taxes for it, had same scenario with my old frame back in 2010.

the seatposts that come with their frames are surprisingly nice, just buff off the decals and it's great. I regretted selling mine.
strip it, clear coat, swap out the front forks for some decent carbon jobbies and I think it would make a pretty rad bike (£100 ish posted, no?). If it was in my size, I would buy one. FACT.
I was talking about the trip-tri not the melty frame...
