they still never find the lorry?? not even tracking it down by following the CCTV camera of each destination it went??
You think they would go to that much effort? I don't
As I said further up I expect the checked one cctv camera, got nothing then just out out an appeal and sign post by the junction. I don't think the police bother with any active detective work unless they are bustling some crime gang e.t.c Most other crimes are only caught because they stubble across it happening or they are presented with the person.

Sadly I think they may have added up the odds on "getting a result" and decided not to bother.
Trying to track down a (possibly) foreign national lorry driver, in a foreign registered vehicle will cost a huge amount of money.
Also whilst our good old DVLA provide other countries with whatever info they want it does not work the other way around- so if I go through a speed camera in France the DVLA will roll over and give my details to the Gendarmes, however if a French registered car gets flashed over here the French equivalent of the DVLA does not give our fine enforcement peeps any info.
Obviously this would be different in a murder investigation- but I doubt that this has been classed as one.

completely sickening - thoughts & prayers to friends & family

Was out of the country and completely missed this.
It's absolutely dreadful news.

how about all motor powered vehicles to be fitted a tracking device and all roads fitted with receivers ?

^^^^ My ex-wife once sent me and a heap-shit load of people a petition to fill out against such a proposal, cos it infringes upon their rights to privacy etc. So I had a complete rant back at them all about already having registered vehicles which are monitored to an extent, so if they want to travel un-monitored, get their lazy arses onto a bike. Oh except with all the hit-and-run car drivers around, it might not be safe. Except if all cars were fitted with trackers, as was being proposed, then there'd never be another hit and run again...

While there may not be CCTV at the junction, surely there are cameras up on the A102/A2 (where I think from the description, is where the lorry went), which would have captured the lorry? Cant be too difficult to look at 5 mins either side of estimated time and look for a lorry with blue covering on it? Even if the cams arent in colour, it would at least give multiple leads?

Oh god, I end up crying every time this happens. Can we please do something? What happened to that big bike ride protest people were talking about a few months ago? There's still plenty of time to organize something for late summer...
Of course, it'll take more than this, but it's a start.

this is so sad. makes me shiver every time i read these posts.
a few months ago a foreign lorry driver drove into the back of a tractor and trailer in dorset and it threw thr farmer onto the road and killed him. the lorry driver drove on, parked up and managed to hitch hike to the nearest train station (claiming he had run out of diesel). luckily the police caught him and it turns out he was over the limit too.
i have to say, in the defence of the police, when i had my accident they were great and did everything they could. people have commented that they didn't look for witnesses until a week later, but that is because they have found that they are more likely to find witnesses on the same day of the week (i.e my accident happened on a friday, so they went back the following friday to try to catch people doing the same journey who may not do it any other day of the week).

Count me in for a protest ride.
I don't actually know how the cycling community as a whole organises these things. The website owner can mailshot, if they so feel. Do people have links with other cycling websites/organisations?

having ripped a bollard up this weekend on my left hand side, while driving a long wheel base van, i can see how this happens if you're:
a) new to driving these things
b) shitting it driving in london
c) tiredi shat it taking the van back today, constantly leaving more room than normal, always looking in the mirrors. wanting to shout at cyclists going down my inside.
a protest cycle would be ideal.

Just to make this junction even safer the traffic lights aren't working, this morning was a free for all so well worth avoiding if you use this route.

I couldn't figure out whether it was just some of the lights and I was in the wrong, or whether the dumper truck that cut me up was being driven by a penis, I'm pretty sure it was the latter. Still I think I may take the scenic route round by the river this evening

Also at roadcc
"The driver of the lorry which was believed to have killed her, John Lashbrook of Sittingbourne in Kent, said he was unaware of Adrianna’s death until six weeks after the incident. When asked by the coroner if he had been involved in a collision on the day of Adrianna’s death he said: “No. I don’t believe I did.”
Mr Lashbrook was initially charged with causing death by dangerous driving but the case was dismissed before it reached trial."
utter disgrace. You bet that if it was speeding through a red light and got flashed, they wpuld have found it by now
