Which is where we point all new members... the header stuff whilst you're in the nursery contains a link to that post.

  • Thought so, Velocio, just hammering it home...

  • Hi guys, im new here and I've had a quick read of the rules regarding the classifieds and how this place is a alternative to ebay, giving the chance to sell/swap between members which I think is great :)

I was just wanting to double check though because I don't think it was clear as such, I know im not allowed to post my own ebay links in the 'ebay/craigslist finds' but im I allowed to make a post with a link to my ebay sale in the Classified forum?

The reason im asking mainly is because I have some bits to sell and they're listed on ebay and I haven't been on here long enough to maybes gain the trust of some of the members for selling PLUS im listing the stuff on ebay at 1p NR and 10% of the final value I want to go to the Haiti Earthquake Appeal Fund via ebay charity system.

So yeah basically im I allowed to post up something in Classified which is linked to my ebay sale?

    Cheers
    Steve

  • It's more like... you shouldn't post your own eBay links at all... but should someone else discover them and find that they are of interest then it's OK for them to post them in the ebay thread.

It's about the community sharing stuff they like, more than it being about you selling stuff.

  • cool, thanks for the speedy reply ;)

  • To add to what Velocio has said:

Let your ebay sales speak for themselves, people here post stuff on the eBay thread that they're not interested in bidding on themsleves, but think others may like to hear about them. You may already have watchers from here if it's desirable stuff.

Perhaps if they don't sell, or look like they're going to go for peanuts, pull the sales before 24hrs to go, sell them on here instead?

  • Aye, good idea. Cheers Skully

  • what's your ebay user id? is it BMX stuff?

  • No its some road bike/single speed/fixed bits and bobs, my ebay user id is 'hmannsf'

How come you asked is it BMX? Funny you should say just cause I do ride BMX too and run a BMX based site call streetphire.co.uk

  • That's how come... I checked your profile too and found that site, I also wondered whether it would be BMX stuff.

  • Ah I see haha, yeah I ride both BMX and single speeds, its all great fun like. No doubt i'll be on here a load over the forthcoming months :)

  • Welcome to the forum, Hman.

  • thought it best to ask first as a newbie....i dont get on here much as i actually have to work during work hours rather than constantly surf ;)...but ive loads of stuff i need to sell to keep the wolf from the door and dont want to tread on any toes...advice appreciated before i offend the ambient morality/percieved wisdom of the board...ta

  • Offer me things cheap!

And take a read of this

PM Pistanator for discreet tips. He seems to have got these adverts down to a fine art...

  • if only forum etiquette could be included in the rules...

  • i have posted 3 times and still cant post a thread?
and have been registered for more than 24 hrs
When can i post in the forsale section?
    Many thanks
    jr

  • ok just read the rules.... i will wait and see
    jr

  • So. Long term lurker wants to sign up and post an ad for a single speed I want rid of.

Is that frowned upon, or do I have to post some chat about unobtainium shoelaces first?

  • ^ Just read the rules. If its a good bike at a fair price, you wont have any problems.

God help you if it's a unipack though.

  • Unobtanium shoe laces! DIBS!!!

  • I've seen a frame I am lusting after on the bay and have bidded. It is a beauty and likely to get spotted on here. Am I allowed to shot gun the item and ask for forumungers not to bid on it?
