  • you should buy this.

    http://www.londonfgss.com/thread20554.html

I want that so bad too much for me though and maybe a little big. rocker if you can stretch the budget buy it!

  • its a very nice frame and you might get it cheap but its big, you would have the saddle basically on the top tube

  • I'd love it but i'd be repainting it, and I don't think I can bring myself to ruin the looks of that, pretty much perfect size too ><

  • yep and IMO having the saddle almost on the top tube doesn't do the bike any justice.

  • :( i dont know what to do now :( guess il just wait for a few months and see if anything turns up . . .

  • I'm looking for a frame, same size (ish) and same sort of budget and not having much luck either.

  • Looking for one about 58cm, so if either of you spot anything suitible, feel free to PM me =P

  • have you been trying for 3 months!? i have! lol good luck on the search, have you used the size calculater alexsi posted page back? its very good! i might go down the route of old road frame and track end welded on with a new paint job. . . that would be pretty cool

  • Yeah I seen it, i'm gonna have to give it a shot when I get home, I was considering doing what you're thinking about there, but I wanna start racing on the track so I don't really want anything except a purpose built track frame.

Was so close to getting this but decided against it for the reason I stated above: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=260404268132

  • I've already got a road conversion and a langster(which i barely ride now), i did want a lo pro with track dropouts but they seem to hard to find, so i'm looking for a track frame, just have to keep an eye out.

The Sirius is still available, yours for £120 F&F!

I'm still undecided, its still on my list of possibilties. It's the vertical dropouts that im unsure about.

I know its only personal opinion, but I can't see any real advantage to welding track ends to a road frame if it already has forward facing dropouts

  • ummar, fair enough, i think i would go with buying one of those horizontal chain tensioner things for £8 off here if i get horizontal dropouts

  • tbh I think converting dropouts is a red herring I wouldn't worry about it. Although it does look better Im pessimistic about the whole process

    Yeah, I understand your concern.

I did a bit of experimenting, and as long as the teeth on the cogs and sprocket add up to 69, then the chain will be tight. Therefore the following ratios would work:

49x20 (which is what I'm running on the bike at the moment)

    50x19
    51x18
    48x21

    etc.

Basically, if you add one on the chainring, you have to take one off the sprocket, or vice versa.

Each tooth = 1/8th of an inch. therefore, with a half link chain, you could minus 8 teeth from the chainring/sprocket 69-8=61 and lose a link of the chain and maintain perfect tension.

ie, the following ratios would also work with a half link:

    42x19
    44x17
    etc etc

With a regular chain, the same rules apply, except that you have 2 inches instead of one, so you have to remove or add 16 teeth for each full link of chain.

    Sorry for the long post.

  • that sounds fair enuff, im still looking around but knowing the chain tension won't be a problem has definately bumped it up on my list of possibilities! Cheers.

  • Anyone think that Barron (ebay link on last page) looks to have mad geometry?

Really steep head angle, really high BB... but long chainstays.

    Odd.

    Odd.

It's designed for an egg-shaped rear wheel.

That's partially why I want it so much =P

asm, can you get those in neon green?

  • No, only neon black.

  • can you get egg shaped arrospok for fiddy dorrah?

  • asm can source anything anywhere.
he also smells like elderberry/ marshmallow pie.
you are about hte same size as me rocker, with a similar inside leg.
ideally I ride a 54.5cm sq frame(geekhouse 2), but 55/56 are fine (road bike/ geekhouse 1), as is my ludicrously comfy 53.5cm(dangermouse) current whip.

  • +1

Same size as me too, although I like my road bikes a smidge bigger.
