  • Or, we could get tynan locked up in Pentonville and run a book on how long it'll take him to get out.

  • 24hrs at 10 miles an hour you could cover 260 miles thats quite a distance

We could make loads of money, but lets not put dicki in charge of the accounts.

  • only joking only joking
    1x2 is 2
    2x2 is 4
    3x2 is 6

    i know my maths

  • How about we use the numbers from the telephone numbers thread to track where people are. Randomly selected people can then be issued with official LFGSS mooching bag and blunt intrument of choice to extract protection money. 10% commision of course.

  • Small charge for using classifieds - say £1 a pop?

  • steal bikes and sell them down brick lane

quite alot of money in that racket i hear

  • Dress up as coppers and bust people for RLJing. £30 on the spot fine.

    • another £30 for not having 2 brakes :)
  • Everyone skip one weekly drinks this month, and donate the £20+ you would have spent to the forum.

FAIL - The revenue wouldn't nearly compensate for the decline in donating while drunk.

  • lets do a 24hr jail break kind of thing / enjoyable social
leave from central london and see how far we can get on a bike in 24hrs
fund raisers like this are fun and will attract attention

    1 pound per mile sponsorship
we could have the forum running for years to come
one big effort by everyone and we could have dave taking baths in 5 pound notes before the end of the summer

You've just given me an idea of how to 'celebrate' finishing my exams.. At some point after (many the day after my last one) I'm just going to ride northwards for 12 or 24 hours and see how far I get

Being in the saddle for that period of time is not something to be taken lightly my friend. Most of the people I've seen at the end of Dunwich Dynamo are standing out of their seats for the last few miles and thats only a 6 hr ride for most.

One of the boys from Bournemouth Jubilee broke the WR or BR for longest distance travelled over 24 hrs. I spoke to him on a ride a few weeks later and he NEVER got off. Pissed/shat/etc (whatever that may be) in his lycra. Complete nutter.

Alright, take a donations can to the weekly drinks and solicit deposits from the drunk captive audience.

  • BTW. Whast about our spare change...(bare with me)

I've been putting all my coppers into a bottle for years. I've got the best part of a 5L water bottle full of coppers; thats gotta be a few hundered grand by now?!

What if everyone gave up their copper reserves? I know it's a hassle logistically, but a possibility.

  • @pigfarmer.. that guy sounds insane.. I did the dynamo last year and certainly was feeling it at the end but if I do go for a 12 hour (more likely) it'll be casual in the extreme with plenty of stops for food/relaxation

  • :-)

I've also got a bottle full of change - how about a guess how much is in the bottle - ?p a go?

My bottle has got more than a couple of £1 / 2 coins in as well as mucho silver and bronze aplenty. I reckon it weighs more than a small child. I prefer my idea in that I get to keep my bottle.

Could also be used for spin the bottle but I reckon it would take a fortnight to stop spinning......

  • I have a cupboard full of bike parts I can't be arsed to sell. Someone sells them on the forum and the proceeds can go to VB.

  • One of the other forums I use asks for a donation of 2% from items sold in the classifieds - an idea perhaps - might need to do some work on the classifieds section so that it could recognise and work out the percentage rather than relying on us numpties to do the calculations....

  • I'm not sure I like the idea of £1 per classified. I've bought and sold lots of things on the classifieds that were under a fiver. As for 2% per classified. It'd have to be over a certain limit (£20 maybe) because anything less and it's just going to be too much hassle. Also, I don't think Velocio wants to be taking payments on a per post basis. It's much more difficult to track than what he's suggested.

The spare change to lfgss and biscuit tin to drinks both sound like great ideas.

  • Can't we get some of the beautiful forum ladies to do a bikini car-wash day?

Obviously, I'd have no interest in this myself as my car is always clean but for some of you others...

  • i do not mind a small contribution, but a bikini car-wash for a bike forum is not my piece of cake

  • Well I'm up for it with one proviso. I've got a convertible so if I go topless, so do they.....

  • hold a huge summer party, everyone selling bikes and parts, get all the usual shops like BLB to provide free services etc.. also BBQ, international food stalls, bike polo, a street keirin.. somewhere east london.. also a treasure hunt across the city.. all with an entry fee, charge professionals for stalls.. somewhere enclosed and hopefully free to hire for the day..

find venue preferably somewhere abandoned or try local school (playground), get a dozen people involved, choose a sunday in the summer.. post notices for help.. announce it on the forum.. its a community project proceeds go to LFGSS..

Why not organise a large ride on the forum and ask everyone who registers to ride a small free (say £10), have a prize for certain things. Though the logistics of this may be cost prohibitive.

  • Was wondering, since we're (LFGSS) having financial problems, whether anyone would like to second some money making opportunities (for the forum hosting). I propose:

    Spok/Post Cards
We've got a few decent designers/designs and an easy way to print them (http://uk.moo.com/en/products/packsize.php?type=postcard) so lets get the non tee-shirt, yet popular ones done.

    Photo Sessions
We've got a few decent photographers and some great looking bikes. Anyone wan't to pay for a portrait of them and there machine? (cheap cheap price). Note this one goes well with idea no. 1.

    Charity Rides
    Do they suck?
