Standard western cooks knives (stainless steel) in our household go in the dishwasher. I have a bench grinder purposed for sharpening those kinds of knives so the edge can be redone in a minute or so.
Nice knives (wa handle, 15 degree angle etc, carbon steel) are washed and dried each time they are used. But there is only one person who uses them.

Cheers all.
The Opinel looks very similar to the Victorinox with the thin blade so think I'll pass on that and Wusthof looks pretty out of budget.
I seem to remember there's a Nisbets in Soho so may have a look in there (for something admittedly cheaper than the linked one).

Maybe have a look at Mercer knives, they use the Western style steel and shape but are made in Taiwan

The opinel I have is not a thin blade like the victorinox (we actually have one of each), but actually going to look in person is prob a good shout anyway.
This is the one I'd suggest https://www.opinel.com/en/kitchen-knives/paring-knives/n126-paring-knife-parallele

Is any pairing knife really going to hit the biscuit? I have victorinox rose wood (with an ergonomics that I found bonkers wanting to hold it upsidedown for six months) and serrated opinel. When buying a knife for someone smaller - I was given advice of, if you don't have the wrist power smaller knifes are easier to work.. Id always go for a larger knife..
@aggi what do you think about the hooked pairing knife? -

I prefer this https://www.opinel.com/en/kitchen-knives/paring-knife-n112-natural myself. Note that will need sharpening and is Portuguese ;)

I bought a steel in this range and like the handle and finish.

Hmmm... the little Santoku for £23 looks quite tempting...

Victorinox Fibrox 4 eva.
Why do you need a thicker blade on a paring knife? It’s literally for delicate little jobs like peeling garlic.

Nice, good stainless steel.

I assume it's more the lack of rigidity.
We used to have 2 pairing knives, one super cheap with quite a flexible blad, the other stiffer with more of a spine.
Unfortunately the stiffer ones handle feel apart. But I liked having both depending on what I was doing. You could argue that the stiffer one was closer to a utility knife I guess.

I've always fancied something from fiskars, just on their sewing scissors are ace, didn't know they did this one. Small and proper heal , but yeah not £13 (they do others)

Pink for girls.
Girls need everything to be pink. Always.

Or for fondant.

For taking the fingers off people that use fondant, you mean?

Ha!
After trying to help decorate a birthday cake with fondant, I have nothing but respect for anyone that can do it.
My ex, when using my knives.
You want a fucking arguement about there are kitchen knives on a block on the worktop, why are you going in to a cupboard and opening a box, unwrapping my knives, removing them from the sheath I made then using a glass work top saver and then dishwasher them.
I may still not have gotten over that.
