belts are obviously perfect for stropping, but if you need a bigger area, MDF is again your friend!
A square of it, with some form of abrasive paste (even toothpaste) will have you honing the burrs off in no time. -

Denim can make a good strop, with metal polish. I strop my razor with denim to clean the edge. Also clean the blade and dry the blade in rubbing alcohol/ipa.

bench grinder arrived, mdf discs trued
took a basic bitch knife from our dog utility/feeding room and just polishing it made it paper cutting sharp in under a minute

Yes!
Now, get yourself a ream of nice, but not super nice paper, and start making confetti! It will save you having multiple bare patches on your hands and wrists from seeing if it's 'shaving sharp'! 😁 -

I was looking at that one too, and had had exactly the same thought of one as Xmas gift for my partner.
Did you go for the leather sheath version? If so now you have it do you feel it's worth the extra ££?
-
• #2611
I went for the standard sheath, to be honest it feels well made and substantial, and I figured nice and easy to clean, so didn't bother with the upgrade.

Good to know, ta.

Only the Mares Tail & Dock that terrorises my allotment!
-
• #2618
I need me one of these.
-
• #2619
Agreed.
I am in French countryside at the moment, so going to hunt for some Opinel goodness.
Opinel saw and sword if spot them!

Ordered, thanks!

Bought an Opinel no8 last week too. Been getting loads of use.
Also, found a tiny SAK in a leather cover lying in the street the other day.
Today has been axe sharpening day which was quite satisfying. It’s a piece of junk really, literally the cheapest hand axe on Amazon but I look after it and it does fine for splitting logs into kindling for the burner.

Did you find these?

Looks like decathlon are stopping stocking opinel knives so the 7 stainless is for sale at a fiver. No longer searchable on website but link can be found via Google.
A bit hit or miss
I think there are many people jealous that he has managed to monetise his lifestyle.
