This is almost certainly going to be an embarrassingly basic question to ask, but here goes -
I have a set of XR31T's built onto Hope RS4 disc hubs, 135mm/100mm QR. Can they be used on a Kinesis Tripster AT which comes with 142x12 and 100x12 through axles?
Be gentle

Perfect. Much appreciated

as someone who for some reason repeatedly buys second hand carbon wheels - don't. I think I've sent back more than I've kept because of endless issues. They're very rarely being sold because they're in good condition. He says with a bunch more in his ebay watched list...

Hed Alps. Were they any good? I know they're rather old and therefore narrow, but that's a moot point in this instance.

Are carbon clinchers still unsuitable for long mountain descents?
-
• #8658
With rim brakes, yes, in my experience. It's not so much long descents as steep, twisty descents. If you have to hold the brakes on for long periods of time, and can't let the rims cool down, then you may have issues. There's only so much you can do to increase the glass transition point of epoxy, and ye canna beat the laws of physics, captain. That's why some of my bikes have two sets of wheels - alloy rims for the mountains, carbon for the flatlands of the Fens.

Thanks. I’ve always stuck with shallow aluminium for the best bike as I’m a climber and I take it to Girona / Majorca or somewhere similar every year. Thought maybe in technology had caught up in the last five years.
Very taken by DT Swiss PR 1400 Dicut OXiC but they’re pretty punchy price wise. Still, yolo.

You still got those wheels? How much would you be looking for?

Yep, £150 posted UK. Search Mavic open pro ust , there's a sales thread.

Gonna post this here, as I don't wanna open a new thread for this.
I'm looking for a relatively lightweight, non-carbon trekking (whispers: gnarmac) wheelset. Plus point if they're commercially available laced up, but I'd kindly take recommendations for hubs and rims alone as well.
Rim brakes, 130 mm spacing, 8-9-10 speed Shimano rotor, and an external rim width of about 20 millimeters. Can anyone recommend some? Are these still in existence? My current wheelset is from a Marin Redwood 1993, Araya VX-400 rims laced into Shimano 700CX hubs. They are not heavy, nor too old for my taste, but the hubs are getting messy, and I will some buck to upgrade soon-ish. Budget is... reasonable, so no CK hubs and similar stuff unfortunately.

Looking for a new set of wheels for winter riding. Hunt's alloy ones look pretty good and fairly reasonable. Anyone have a set of these, would you recommend?

trekking (whispers: gnarmac) wheelset...external rim width of about 20 millimeters
Why? I can't think of a tyre that you'd want on your Redwood which wouldn't work better on at least a 23mm rim. cycleclinic will do you XR22 to Miche Primato in silver if you want to retain the look of your old wheels. For my money the Novatec A171/F172 looks more age appropriate, should be the same price or even a few quid less.

Got a couple of sets of hunt alloy wheels (disc though); never had much of a problem with them. Not too expensive, reasonably light especially for the price and their customer service is good if you have questions.

I’d recommend them, yes. I have a pair of Aero Wide Race that I got a couple of years ago which I’ve used year-round and they barely look used. Keep an eye on their ‘nearly new’ stock - I got my wheel set at 40% off and included the standard 60-day no fuss returns, 3 yr warranty and accessories.

Great, thank you.

That's decent, will lookout for that. Thanks!

Any experience with Scribe wheels? Just had the unfortunate experience of finding out my rear rim has cracked, so on the hunt for some new carbon wheels around the £800 (+/- 100) mark.

Why not go Chinese?

Light bicycle will take 5-7 weeks to be shipped and don't have finance options. The finance issue isn't a deal breaker, but the time taken is a bit

Over the years has anyone or people known anyone ridden the spinergy rev x wheels?

Are you OK?

Have I ever been okay?

Don’t ask Michele Bartoli.
Thanks for the offer, but I am going to wait for a bit before I replace them. Rims still have some life left, so I was just getting some ideas with what to replace them with when I am ready
