Thanks. Have you ordered anything from them before? What was quality like and shipping times? They do seem to offer exactly what i need.
I'm tempted by the uk stocked chinese carbon for quicker delivery but higher prices. A more realistic warranty too. -

I've got cn*carbon 50mm disc clinchers. 3000 mi or so with no issues at all. Shipping was 3 weeks or so, took longer as I asked for the 28h drilling rather than 24h. They came with a 'carbonspeedcycle' invoice in the box (another eBay seller), so I guess they're resellers. No complaints though.

There's an Orient Express thread which may answer your questions, and will certainly point you to reliable Chinese wheel shops.

Yes I know this thanks.
-

Ok thanks, think I'll take a punt with them. I'd prefer a higher spoke count too.

In a moment of weakness I've bought a 'bargain' Straggler frameset so need a matching 'bargain' set of disk wheels. I'm a bit of a unit (105kg) so any recommendations? Wide rim and tubeless ready if possible.

So... XLC hub- with a 15mm thru front. Is there an easy swap to QR available?
They look fairly generic.... Googlefu is failing me. -

Googlefu is failing me
No idea how, the search term 15mm to QR brings this straight up

Any thoughts? They are pretty light for the spends...

Look good for the price. Similar sort of thing to the Hunts (the anti bite guard on the rear hub looks the same; it broke off mine).
You probably won't find them quite stiff enough and you'll wish they had four more spokes per wheel if you're heavy-ish. I'd get them for that price though.

I'm fairly light (sub 75kg) & as you say look very similar to the spec of the 4Seasons. Might give 'em a punt - definitely an upgrade on the 2kg+ mavics I've got at the moment.
-
• #7988
Definitely worth a go for the price. I found my Hunt wheels (particularly the front) a touch flexy at 75kg, but in all honesty it didn't really bother me. Only becomes really apparent when you start using 32 spoke wheels afterwards.

Whats the cheapest widest rim 11 sp road wheel money can buy? Rim brakes.
-
• #7990
Superstar Arc22 or 31 are 24mm wide, they're pretty cheap, particularly if there is a code going.
-
• #7991
Tubeless, disc, wide, strong enough for off-road, but also not super heavy they couldn't be used on-road a lot too. Oh, and cheap.
What are my options outside of Hunts?
-
• #7992
Shimano RS505 CL laced to 29er tubeless rims. No need to pay a premium for Hunts.

DT Swiss R24?

How many sprockets? For up to 10-speed (or 11 if you want to use the 11-34 HG800 cassette), you can shop in the 29er aisle

11, replacing the hefty shitty Maddux ones off my caadX

Solved. Picked up some second hand Velocity Aileron on CX75s for £160!
-
• #7997
I might have accidentally picked up a HED Ardennes Plus LT disc wheelset but they're not much use to me right now as I've no 12/12 TA frame to put them on.
HED sell QR/End-cap adapter kits though but I'm not seeing anyone sell them in Europe. Has anyone happened on a shop that stock such an item?
-
• #7998
I just got the kit yesterday. HED UK sell it but they were rude to me and didn't have stock. They suggested they'd have stock towards the end of September though so give them a shout
http://www.hedwheels.com/index.aspI ended up buying them from competitve cyclist in the US and asking someone to bring them back over on a flight for me.

Cheers, if the US will be the best place to order from then I've already a chap who can help me there.
I had no idea http://www.hedcycling.com and http://www.hedwheels.com were different.
Cn*carbon on ebay do what you're after. You can definitely specify more spokes for no extra charge, and I think you can specify QR or thru axle. The hubs (d771/772) definitely have swappable end caps to allow it.
