Fulcrum Racing 7 LG
Fulcrum Racing Quattro LG
DT Swiss Spline R24I will be buying a new wheelset soon and am obviously on a tight budget so was thinking of going for 7 LG and getting nice tires. Is there a good reason why I should go for any of two other wheelsets listed above? DTs have straightpull aero spokes and apparently comes tubeless ready and Fulcrum Quattros have 35mm aero profile rim. The bike will be used for shorter out of town and weekend rides (50-100 km ).

Fulcrum Quattros have 35mm "aero" profile
ftfy
I'd have bought the Quattro LG if it had come out a few months sooner. On a tight budget, the fact that they're about 50% more expensive than Racing 7 can't be ignored.

Was thinking the same, especially since I am not sure that I would notice the difference (mad aero benefits) and even if I would it wouldn't mean much to me. The price difference will buy me some nice tires and a carbon seatpost. Will be asking for more advice in CP.

I bought Racing 7 LGs a month or so ago, can't fault them. Got the CX version with extra sealed bearings for use on the winter/commuter. Probably due to the extra seals they have a weirdly silent freehub but they're a lot of wheel for £110. Look good too.

Thanks, was wondering what the difference between normal and cx is, double seals seem like a good idea for a small price difference.

I imagine theres a small price to pay in rolling resistance but they seem perfectly suited to winter trainer duty - wider for bigger tyres and sealed.

Also have a pair of Racing 7 CXs, and they are great. Got them second hand for effectively what they are selling for new atm, so even better for you.

Reynolds were very helpful. turns out the rims are from different manufacturign periods:
Thanks for your questions. The visual differences you see on your Attack wheelset are due to manufacture dates. Both rims have decals from our 2012 season. You can easily tell rim manufacture dates by the first 4 digits on the serial number label in the tire channel of the rim. Serial number sequence HZ 09xxxxxx was manufactured in 2009; HZ12xxxxxx was manufactured in 2012, etc...
Your front wheel was probably manufactured between 2011-2012 as it has a more modern braking surface called CTG. CTG is still used on Reynolds rims for 2016. The 3K 'weave' fabric material dissipates heat more easily than earlier rim designs.
Your rear wheel was probably manufactured between 2008 - 2010. It has a braking surface of 'Uni' (unidirectional carbon) covered in a material called scrim. That material added durability to the wheel, but wasn't as efficient as CTG against heat build-up.
I will contact the seller and as he didn't mention anything regarding it being a mixed wheel-set and see what he says...
regarding wear on carbon rims. when do you know they are knackered?!! thanks!

Just ordered my new wheels from my LBS here in Hong Kong. Tune Mig/Mag, PMP rims, DT Swiss Comps with brass nipples. Should come in just under 1400g.
Obviously I'll have to get the Tune skewers to match but I'll slide that past the wife at a later date.

Last week got the Pro-Lite A21W ISO wheelset (11 Speed Tubeless Ready 6-bolt Disc) from wiggle.
Weighted "naked" 0,760kg front and 0,892kg rear (1,652kg the pair), and 2,980gr fully built with Conti GP 4000S II 28mm (reflex sidewalls), inner tubes, 160mm TRP rotors and red veloplugs.
More images here and a great review there: https://roubaixcycling.wordpress.com/2016/02/02/pro-lite-revo-disc-alloy-wheelset/ -

Looks like I've missed the boat on tester's recommended DT swiss r24 DB for a new disc road bike. In the same boat as @swedeee and thinking either

or
http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/alexrims-atd550-11speed-aero-disc-wheelset.htmis there anything else in a similar price range, looking for a good balance of value/weight?
The other option I suppose would be to get a pair of DT R460 rims and build them up, but can't find any decent/cheap (less than £70 disc hubs?)

would probably have gone for those fulcrums if I had seen. the superstar aeroroad are definitely a bit on the heavy side at just under 2kg. will be the next thing i upgrade on my roadbike when i have the monies

Ah perfect, thanks! Ordered this morning. Are using them with the 6 bolt adapter?

Nah, I'm using centerlock rotors. If you're going for 140mm I can recommend the Avid HSX centerlock rotors at planet x, a tenner apiece down from RRP of £50ish. I'm running that at the back and Shimano XT 160mm rotors at the front (can't remember the model number offhand).

flickr set may be easier. i emailed a reynolds certified store in the UK about a rim replacement and he's saying he could do it for 300quid..... but thats a bit rich for me right now!
Dip on track only noticeable with ruler used next to it. probably 1/2 mm at most. similar on both rims..
will email reynolds as u suggest
