Superstar Arc 22 or arc 31?
In a word: Yes.
Deep if you wanna go faster obvs (but probably not 'a few miles per hour').

Under 1900g.
Looking to replace the wheels that came with my All City macho man disc.
Formula DC20 hubs with Alex Black Dragon 32h rims (980g front, 1180g rear!).

Looking to replace the wheels
Why? Using your choice of cycling simulation software, show us the race in which you would have materially improved your prize money by having wheels 300g lighter.

8bits suggestion is sound, if the claim weight is as low as it advised.
Ulimately, it may give you a moral boost but that's about it.

I used to think 'lighter is always better' but now i realise that climbing is about power transfer (less) flex, flat riding is about aero and descending is about not shitting myself = good bye chinese crabon
even the pros (mostly) didn't ride sub 7kg bikes at the abu dhabi tour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqEBiyjIcfU

Current wheels are heavy, have some cash to spend, kinesis wheelset would be around 605g lighter.
I don't race or have cycling simulation software so can't fully answer your question.
Are you saying lighter wheels would be a waste of money?

How likely is that?

• #5784
Tyres would make a noticeable difference.

Yes.

Interesting, well I learnt something today. I still have £200 burning a hole in my pocket.

Carbon fork.

Carbon fork.
That's what I thought when I looked at the bike, the steel fork is over 1kg so @farewell could satisfy his inner weight weenie with a 500g saving while enjoying the real benefit of better ride and handling. Trouble is, all the interfaces are old fashioned; 9×100 axle, IS caliper mount, straight 1⅛ steerer. You'd be throwing good money after bad if you chased down a decent carbon fork in that spec, and if you wanted a proper modern CX fork you'd have to change the front hub, brake and probably the frame too :-)

Kinesis fork plus money left over for decent tyres.
Abet not full carbon but claim weight look reasonable.

Kinesis fork
Which one? I looked the DC37, but it's 10mm longer than the stock fork.

Look decent.
Question, is the R460 the same rim used for the R24 wheelset?
-
• #5794
It looks like... but I dont know! But in this case the advantage would being able to build up in the next future another wheelset using the DT 370 hubs. Am I wrong?
-
• #5795
is the R460 the same rim used for the R24 wheelset?
No, it's more like (and may be exactly) the rim from the R23 wheels.

On the way... Thanks

Got my new Archetype on Ultegra now. Just need to get around to cleaning the Kinesis and chucking it on. Then will probably ship the old Powertap wheelset to Oz or Poland or somewhere I have bikes that lack powermeters. #toomanywheels
