My Reynolds carbon wheels have the option protection cover, 2 years costs $250. They are road disc wheels on my nice bike. Any thoughts on this?

Second thoughts free hillbombing and naughty crit racing is cheap for 250$
if you have a Reynolds Authorized Dealer close to you

Second that, mine are 27.5-28 on Arc31

Dont suppose anybody knows what a Veloflex Master 25c on a HED Belgium+ rim measures up at in the real world?
Ritchey Road Logic frames can take up to 28c apparently, but i'm concerned i might have clearance issue if i go for Belgium+ rims instead of standard Belgium rims.

If that helps my 25c GP4000 works surprisingly with a SKS raceblade on the Belgium +
-
• #5557
What are SKS raceblades supposed to go up to?
Aren't the adjustable? I dont do mudguards... -
• #5558
You should, as well as a dynamo.

thanks, but no thanks.

Also, I'm tempted to get the regular Belgium rim over the Belgium+, as the + is tubeless ready, which is a whole world of retarded shit i dont want to get into, and makes mounting tyres a pain in the ass.
-
• #5562
Tubeless can be a bit of a bother but has definite benefits.
For seating the tyre remove the valve core and cover the head in washing up liquid. The liquid left on can then be used to help locate the porous bits of the tyre so you know where to shake the sealant.

• #5563
Aren't most decent new rims tubeless-ready, including both Belgiums?
-
• #5564
Not the Belgium.
-
• #5565
I want nothing to do with tubeless tyres.
It is a complete waste of time for road bikes. -
• #5566
+1
-
• #5567
Yes ready but not tubeless. There is a difference.
Oh ffs. So -ready and -compatible don't mean it works with tubeless and tubed?
-
• #5568
What I meant some rims need a bodge and some don't to run a tubeless tyre.
-
• #5569
Sorry, thought I read somewhere the regular Belgium was "tubeless-ready" as well as the Plus. Can't find it now - nevermind.
-
• #5570
Yep possibly if I'd checked my rim tape I would not have had a puncture in a year.

http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/carbon-clincher-volta-evo-hubs-2024-hole-lightweight.htm vs http://www.flocycling.com/wheels_front_flo_60.php anything else I should be considering in this price range? Are these wheels even that comparable (besides price?) ?

25.5mm on a 24mm rim (arc31).
So yeah, not huge.
-
• #5573
I've had a bad experience using 23c tyres on 23mm rims (GP 4000s and Racing 5 LG). Misjudged a hop up a curb with the back wheel, going very slowly as coming to a stop. Huge bang/crack and the tyre has 2 gashes in it and the rim is dented beyond repair. Can't help but feel with a wider tyre or narrower rim this wouldn't have happened, as a bit of protection to the rim edge? My own fault but annoying, as pretty much brand new wheel and tyre trashed. And Fulcrum rims are hard to come by, as are individual wheels.

• #5574
I think that's quite common, along with greater propensity for pinch flats.
-
• #5575
If you put the same pressure in on a 19mm rim you'd be more likely to pinch flat or hit the rim.
That's just maths.
andmade in Germany innit not every pimple can be the same.
