Thanks for the suggestions all.
Mavic Open Pro x2 £100
Campag record hubs £159.50 or Hope Pro 3's £182
DT competition spokes £20 ish
£279/302
Hand-built wheels: Priceless.
Oh, and I'll build 'em for you for some beers.
I'm liking the idea of building a set instead of a factory set. Where did you find F&R Record hubs for £160 though?
You could try the wheelroom as they make hand built wheels. Uses cadence rims which come in light - got to have light hubs too obviously, give them a ring.
Where you going?Yeah I saw Cadence rims a while ago (when I originally started looking for new wheels. They're also a consideration if they're going to be handbuilt...
I'm going to Tenerife BTWambrosio chrono tubular rims

Ooo, no tubs thanks. Tune hubs look interesting though.
Back to factory suggestions in my budget, what about:

I'd say get some Klinlin rims (IRD, Halo etc...all rebrand these) made into something light. The lowish profile ones are very light, and the rear has a asymmetric profile to help even spoke tension.
Record hubs, Sapim Lazer spokes, 32/32 IRD Cadence rims £352.
http://www.wheelsmith.co.uk/wheelprices.htmI'm gathering parts for a sexy set of slightly-aero climbers, weighing in at around 1340g. These will likely cost around £400 though.

Hey guys,
I was hoping to pick your minds about wheelsets. I know its a fgss forum, but you guys have been a big help in the past with my regular roadbike.
BAsically I have been riding the same wheelset for 2 yrs whilst commuting around London on my Felt F80, and they are now truly farked.
it seems stupid not to upgrade somewhat, so looking at spending around 150.
Brands that Ive read about include Mavic, Fulcrum or Kore Gradients...
Now I'm not going to be racing on the bike, but just want something that we last on the roads, and aint a pile of shite.
What you's reckon/recommend?

Mavic Aksium at that price.

Cheap Mavics like CXP22s on shimano hubs make good solid wheelsets, and can be had for well within your budget. I picked up some CXP22s on Ultegra hubs for 92 quid on fleabay. These are the kind of wheelsets that often come stock on road bikes in the £1000 region, and people often swap them out for racier wheels.

Not personally, but there are plenty of reviews on various roadie forums.

with planet x you get value for money; sometimes this does not translate into longevity
wilsons of sheffield do handbuilts within your price range

I've had the model B's for about 9 months, got them based on good reviews from other forums. Only given the rear one truing in that time and that was more a case of me being anal. There nothing amazing (I doubt any wheels in this price range actually are) but so far nothing but good things to say about them.
If its just for commuting maybe go for the model C's, pretty much the same wheels but with a higher spoke count, so should be a slightly stronger wheel.

Some nice combos in the price range there.
I concede to your superior recommendation ;)
