Cool good to hear - I've got until August so time to test them out properly.
I'm just 50/50 as to splurging now or holding out until next year and saving for something silly like ck / reynolds

Tested to destruction for the good of LFGSS !!!
Glad you're ok Ed.

They're already great wheels that spin really smoothly and easy to true, you're better off getting quality tyres to take advantage of the rim width more, like Open Corsa in 25mm, or even One in 28mm for that alpine descent.

At first I was blaming the front wheel design but looking back, that was the first and last serious potholes I've seen so far in Girona, so I put it down to stupidity not expecting UK style pothole.
The reason the g/f in front of me, who was perfectly fine because she's riding on 32mm 650b wheels with enough spokes to take both her body weight.
27mm Open Pave was amazing though, really reduced the road buzz on the descent.

Wow I just saw the pic of your wheel! Looked pretty bladdy serious...

these 3T are cheap if you're after campag freehub... http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/3t-accelero-40-pro-road-wheelset/rp-prod113041?gs=1&gclid=Cj0KEQjwyIyqBRD4janGs5e67IsBEiQAoF8DGhKL5jrYmkqfAyKS6OsZleAQudRUjT00tN8hw_povmwaAqf28P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds

That'll buff out

These are excellent - still loving mine. Fast, stiff and have stayed true all winter. Whats the deal with the freehub - easy to change to shimano? Or can you use a campag cassette with SRAM?? £159 is bargz. Hoping the 3t hubs are generic and can swap freehub body.

Has anybody bought any disc braked road wheels recently?
I think that I have money burning a hole in my pocket. I feel that my bike is let down a bit by its wheels. It's a lynskey sportive and has Shimano RX31s on it, which are fine but perhaps a bit dull.
I'm wondering if spending maybe 800-1000 quid would make me into some sort of superhero basically, and if so what people recommend. Or is it just snake oil?

Probikekit has reductions on Zipp 202 and 303 disc wheels, still spendy, but very aspirational

Changing to supple tyres and latex tube will make a difference and is ideal for summer; worth a try before dropping big cash. Back to Marathon Supreme for the winter.
-

Eyeing up a new ride. Comes with a pair of Mavic Ksyrium Equipe S. Worth keeping or sell as new and get something a bit wider? Arc31 from Superstar possibly...

hmm, I might already be doing that. I have Schwalbe Ones on at the moment and tend never to go super heavyweight (conti 4 seasons at most) and deal with punctures as they occur, they are good for the soul :-)
I do need new inner tubes though :-)

Go big or go home: Zipp, Bontrager, Reynolds
Look baller on budget: Farsport U shaped 38mm clinchers on Novatec SL
What width Schwalbe Ones? I used them and liked them they werent just durable. Defo worth a try with latex tubes. Wheels making you (feel) faster is mostly placebo IME.

Thank you for those suggestions, I'll take a look.
25mm. I like them but they really aren't durable. I don't find that they puncture particularly often, they just wear out, get surface cuts and need replacement quickly

Strictly summer:

http://www.velovitality.co.uk/collections/700c-tyres/products/compass-stampede-pass-tyre-700c-x-32-mmIf those with latex tubes don't change your mind then get bling wheels I guess.

• #4845
Those first ones, 182g for a 26mm? That's VF Record territory, can't imagine them lasting long at all.

"Much superior comfort from the Cayuse Pass tires over the Rubino Pros, noticeably so and I think, faster (but that's kind of difficult for me to judge). 4,544 miles on both front and rear tires, one flat in the front tire in that entire time."

You would be surprised with Jan's tyres. My experience with comapss grand bois hetre has been great; its possibly the lightest 42c tyre on the market; zero p*****es over 1400 miles and loads of life left.
Then there are Strada LGG, S-works turbo, Parigi roubaix, Strada bianca etc

• #4847
Hmm, those Grand Bois look interesting. Considering making a switch from GP4000s, just for a change really. What rims are you putting them on? I've got tubeless SL23s and as told a few pages back they are a motherfucker to get the tyres on and off. I've got big chunky levers that let me change everything over in 5-10 minutes, but that's still twice as long as changing tubes ought to take.

• #4848
I use them on VO Diagonale rims; check here: http://www.pedalroom.com/bike/rychtarski-road-columbus-max-16759#photo179259

Thank you... I might have to have a go at them :-)

Getting a build done of hope mono on begium plus but they dont have 24 hole only 20 at the moment. I am only 70 kilo and dont trash stuff so is it worth the wait of a month for the 24s to come in? Standard 2 cross 28 rear btw.
They're excellent wheels, great for climbing too.
My accident was cause by not avoiding a pothole that buckle the front wheel enough to pop all the spokes off the hubs.
