Some people are so annoyingly stupid.
Bought a Bauer 5000, dude said it was a small, turns out to be a medium.
I might just fit in the lower sizing if I could just work out how to resize it.
There are no screws but there are flaps either side which I have lifted up.
The center pad on the inside now moves up and down but I can't see that the helmet is getting any smaller.
Should I be looking for anything else? -

is that the same one that dublinkevin has? That looked good last night.

Kevin has a Mycro hurling helmet.

I've been using a Mycro helmet since Brighton. I was using a Bern up until then but a couple too many hits around the head/face later and decided to go face cage. I picked it because it doesn't have too many bars, but still enough to keep a mallet/ball out. It's pretty well vented and still quite light, but it's fairly sweat inducing as all the 'padding' is just white polystyrene looking material.
It's quite nice thinking it was made by hand in Ireland but it's still basically a 1970s skateboarding helmet with a cage on.

Joni - flip the side flaps up then pull the front of the helmet (like you are trying to pull the cage off), this should make it larger, push the forehead part toward the back to make it smaller. I have the same helmet so if you still have problems give me a shout.

Cheers Ed. I was too afraid if breaking something but gave it a shove and it clicked back. Just about fits. Bloody heavy these things.
Do you have a picture so I can see what grills you have taken out?
Cheers!

yeah it needs a bit of a wiggle/whack to get it to slide
I haven't taken any grills out, my cage was 1/2 cage 1/2 visor but I took the visor off.

switched to a metal cricket grille on my bern, way better visibility, forgot it was even there after 5 minutes

I think Bibby, the first to go grill in London, has been rocking ti since day one. That's like, 2010 (maybe 9?) shit right there.
-
• #788
yeh, and he rocks it at least once a week.
-
• #789
This is true. I read it somewhere.

Bibby has hardened up since moving up't Norf. He still brings it it every week and then decides he's manned up enough not to wear it.

These look pretty good.

league 2 was all up in my Ti grill.

i'm using a cage like that on a hockey helmet. other guys around here are doing that too. they are base/soft/fastball cages and protect from most things that would be near your face. visibility is superior to a hockey cage

I did my commuting with my caged helmet on to get used to it and I must admit after a month it felt 2nd nature to be playing in them. Also, I got hit twice on the head since I got them, so yeah, would have been quite a bang had I not got them!

Is anyone interested in a group buy? My bauer gives me a headache and is too 'up in my grill'. Might be interested in one of these if the'll fit to a protec helmet.

Could I try the bauer sometime? I'm starting to get the fear.

Sure. It's a medium so 55 - 60cm. Think I paid about £15 for it.
