Yep, they are comfy, but don't last that long, mine are 3 months and have two fingers and the thumb on the mallet hand mostly made of hockey tape.

Does anyone know anything about these specific gloves, the durability of synthetic leather for palms or the general build quality of no fear stuff? Ta.

well you dont hit the ground with your hands much so they might be fine, but they look thin as shit to me. The above posts for nofear gloves i can recommend and have lasted 3/4 months. A very different material though.

I always find that I war out the index finger and the thumb of my mallet hand glove. Gets annoying as you can have the protection on top but as soon as the bottom wears out the top gets pulled out of the way too easy

These have arrived. And so has your cap, Mark.
Pick up from me at polo over the weekend? The office in W1 today or tomorrow?

I've literally just fitted one of those cricket guards to my Bern... Bit of a pain in the ass marrying the curved side plates with the different curves of the Bern, and also finding a mounting solution that doesn't leave anything protruding inside...
Only attached it with 4 bolts so far, but think I've got the position pretty bang on, will add another 4 bolts once I've tried it as is... One thing I'd maybe recommend is some really thin rubber foam in between the guard mounts and the side of the helmet to make the fit better? Didn't have any to hand though, but may add later, I'll pop a picture up with the hardware I used if I can do it from my phone in a minute.

Looks pretty sweet!

Nice one ^^. Any tips and pictures would be a huge help.
The look pretty flimsy though :-sBill I might be able to swing by at lunch today if that's cool. Where's the office?

i thought that, but if they're designed to stop a cricket ball they should be pretty tough!
The look pretty flimsy though

inner tube adam? I used really long bolts and tightened the fuck out of them before hacksawing them off.

• #717
What nuts are ya'll using there?
-
• #718
Cricket helmet nuts.
And then I got some short countersunk bolts that matched the nuts, so they wouldn't stick out on the inside.

^ ha... sounds like your engineering approach was slightly different to mine...
was re-thinking it this morning and i'm thinking of using 4 allen bolts per side, bolt fed through from the inside and bolted down with nylock nuts leaving about 8/10mm of thread to act as mounting posts which the holes in the guard will attach to and then secure it in place with a second nylock nut on top, might offer slightly easier adjustment?

I'll take one in grey marl, size medium.

I am not Googling helmet nuts.
-
• #722
i used blind nuts pushed into the foam from the inside of the helmet and then bolted in from on top of the guard (I also filed notches into the edges of the blind nuts to stop them rotating in the foam....)
What nuts are ya'll using there?

I (perhaps somewhat foolishly) tested my plastic face-guard. It took 4 hits with a mallet to break it.

lol, at least you didnt hit your self in the eye like i did.

Better to find out that way.
Can anyone recommend a hockey helmet? I have no interest in modifying my Bern. What's comfy?

I'm really happy with the protection they provide, yet at the same time you hardly notice them, you can still feel the mallet.
But the downside is that after a few months they are already starting to rip, and wear through in places. It's probably nothing a tailor can't fix, but still a little annoying.
I know quite a few other people are also using them.
