If you want to stick with MTB-style gloves...
...they stink like shit...
...wash them...
...and my finger tips are cracking on them, the palm is shredded on the right one...
...and try putting some hockey tape on the main abrasion points when new (sacrificial protection). -

think I will stick with a smaller MTB style glove.
Ive been wearing dakine gloves for nearly 6 months of polo and held up pretty well, got em for ridding DH originally but pretty good for polo as well.

Anyone recommend some good soft pads? I've seen some decent 661 shin and knee, but nothing for arms?

the 661 Veggie are ok and soft, they do knee and elbow
im now using the G-form ones and really like them, they dont offer as much protection but are a good compromise http://g-form.com/

For anyone looking for a cricket helmet, these are on sale for 15 quid. Not much more than ebay+postage and with no added cricketer's sweat.

I really like my Northern Standard gloves, still wearing them in but they fell pretty good already... They were mad tight and a bit pinchy at first... They do need to look at the stitching tho', not really top quality... Coupla loose threads after the forst coupla games... 8.5/10

I just got these in the post and they feel amazing. Really light (super light) They are a 13" and they feel ilke they just about fit, possibly too small, but worried, but i hope they will be fine because they dont make them any bigger.
I got them from zenith who emmet said he had had problems with, took about 10 days - 14 days. i have a %15 discount voucher if anyone wants it.

Oh also Ed, (lefty) maybe you want to by the left one?

I prefer slimmer gloves with more palm coverage, thanks though

Bought a Giro Surface -
Mainly because I can't get on with any other helmets. Anyone know how difficult it is to retrofit a cage onto it?
-
• #1562
ask bill he has a baseball cage i think.

Thanks B

For reference, the Giro Feature helmet features a screw on visor. There are 3 metal thread holes on the front which can fit a kayak polo cage almost perfectly. Might need to bend side arms of cage a mm or 2.
Needs the kayak cage with the 3 hole fitting. Air vents too and really light. -

Argh, ffs. I almost bought a Feature.
-
• #1567
Ah I just made one from a feature too! Where can you get a kayak guard? I attached a cut up jofa cage and the whole thing comes to 480g (such an improvement over my old bern/fixcraft job in that department). It protects eyes/nose/mouth which is primary concern, cut it a bit short on the jaw to clear the beard...

Beard cutout... Genius!

Is this like when people mention certain brands on the telly in the hope of getting free stuff?
-
• #1571
Yep, i'm hoping they give me more of something ive already got
-
• #1572
Greedy bastard.
-
• #1573
Well they're not indestructible.
-
• #1574
hockey tape makes anything indestructible.
-
• #1575
We should wrap the balls in hockey tape. That'll stop them cracking.
no worries. it's personal preference. but if you havent tried lacrosse gloves id suggest giving them a go.
imo they do not effect bike / mallet handling / control. plus, when you consider majority of top teams in the world play with these types of gloves, they must be okay.
but if you want mtb style gloves, try dakine defenders.
