  • the medium is just a wee bit too small, about 2 cm. Maybe a haircut would help...
I tired a large one once and it was waaaaaaaay too big... is there a way to stuff something inside?

  • Wear a hat.
The large isn't that much bigger, I fit both..

  • I think Zoe put extra foam in hers..

  • really? foam is a good idea. Thanks.

Maybe the one I tried was a XL then, coz there was considerable gap. Curious to know the sizing about the o'neills ones. Must remember to ask tomorrow.

  • In case anyone who has a big head like me and don't mind the colour, here are some cheap large ones.

  • Anyone has any suggestion where I can decrease the size of my head just by a couple of cm?? Gutted my head is just that much too big for that medium helmet.

  • sizes for the O'Neills helmets

    Boys Small- 54cm
    Yth Medium-57cm
    Mens Large- 59 cm
    Large Mens Xlarge 62cm

Boys and Yth are £10 cheaper, I think. Still they are quite big.

  • £5 cheaper, they're £55. Postage is just under £4.21.

  • They said if orders through a club representative, there will be a discount...

  • Bugger.
I've emailed them. Will pass on to the association if so.

  • Can I leave that to your capable hands, madame? Since you know them better. I have the contact of the London's rep from O'Neill. In fact, I will PM you now.

  • I'm thinking about a new helmet at the moment.

Undecided between Ice Hockey and Hurling.

I'd guess the Ice Hockey helmet is going to be much better in a crash, but how often do you see head injuries from crashes in bike polo.

I prefer the lightness of the Hurling helmet, and the bar structure on the facecage.

I'm a little worried that the facecage is supported by the chin though.

  • I have a hurling helmet the same as Turds, brand new never worn bought drunk, for sale.

  • What size?

    I probably need XL

  • I can understand why hurling helmets have become so popular, the cage is easier to see through and they're dead light but for me the helmet itself seems a bit flimsy. If in a crash i went headfirst into a frame or cage/wall then I think the hockey helmets offer much better protection.

ideally for me would be a hurling grill on a hockey helmet, but I have never seen the grills for sale on there own.

  • Hugo uses a kayak polo grill on a hockey helmet. Looks like a really good set up.

    @John H, I'll bring to polo.

  • If anyone wants a second hand hurling helmet then this place has them frequently.

If you make an offer it's binding but seemingly people are a bit flaky with responding.
    Postage to London is €8

  • I have this helmet to sell. I can bring to souths tonight. Its medium to large, Ludo wore it with a cycling hat and it was fine. I fitted the guard to it, so you can use the guard yourself or take it off and flip it around so that it is guarding the bottom rather than the top.

    £15

that's definitely true. people are usually quite slow. and there can be some trolling going on. for the offer to be binding, it has to be the asking price.

looks good b, any chance of a photo with someone wearing it? just to get an idea of how much coverage it offers.

  • Here you go, You could always make the cage lower or higher if you wished, its not hard.

  • I wore my O'Neils helmet last night for the first time, absolutely loved it. Really comfortable, lots of nice padding which has an antibacterial property. The plastic has a nice flex to it but still sturdy, and it felt quite airiated (not a word). Good grill, hardly noticed it at all.
    Recommends.
