Ah, they look prefect, if they're padded on the inside.

nice one ed.

Most carbon knuckles won't be overly padded on the inside (MTB gloves).
Dakine Defenders would probably work for you (more palm protection than other carbon knuckle gloves), Fox Bombers have very poor palm protection for example.

mine were a little small, which meant that the knuckles felt tight on the mallet hand. I slit the thread on the knuckle so it could move freely over the hand and it was perfect. The fact that they were only 13 quid meant it was ok to do this i think.

Yeah knuckle fit is hit and miss.
I just wanted extra protection for when I fall off and land on the 'heels' of my hand.
Or I should just learn to drop n roll.
Off to google Dakine Defenders, cheers J!

Tuck and roll!

Isn't that a man thing?

No, it's a fire thing.
You want as much surface area with the ground as possible, smother the flames to starve them of oxygen. Don't panic as flapping your arms will make things worse. A rolling sausage shape is the norm, or do a "snow angel" if you're only on fire on one side.

^ This is without doubt the most useful thing written on the forum today.

of course if its H-bomb that T-bones you, you should 'duck and cover'

Falling on the heels of your hands will mean that you're more likely to break bones, best to try to roll out of falls as much as possible rather than use your hands to brace for impact.
More protection is never a bad thing though surely?

I have been thinking of making disk brake covers out of ABS plastic, something like this
what do people think, will it be strong enough?

polycarbonate. although you'll want something good to cut it.

Its called the Horseshoe and is availabe on Etsy.
I have 5 people from our club using them, as well as about 10 people in the states.
So far so good.
They most (there are a few exceptions) IS mount fork systems, and all calipers that i've come across.
Designed for 160mm rotors.
