Hope you liked it!
Was tricky to mix - so many of these tracks have weird reverse kick/snare and 'ghost' notes going on. Really have to override what your brain is telling you sometimes!
The track I was waiting on, which I realised I didn't necessarily need for this mix, but am still going to acquire for part 2, is this:

My intention over the coming months is to concentrate on getting the rest of the Photeks, rest of Razors Edge, more Source Directs, more Odysee and maybe early Cert18s.
Gonna be tough and take a fair while to get enough 12"s together for the next one, but will be a fun project!

yes mate, awesome set, thanks again!
i don't think i've heard the source direct remix of 'this is a baad' before - great track.early photek stuff is some of the best ever produced IMO - nobody has ever been able to manipulate breaks so well.
looking forward to pt2.

have you got any of the early truper/sentinal/system x stuff?

this is one of my favourites of all time - fetches a pretty eye watering price on discogs! -

I don’t unfortunately. Are you aware of the repress LPs? They would be an excellent purchase if there’s ever another run. Wish I’d known about them at the time, but between about 2008-2020 I wasn’t buying stuff :(

Highly expensive on ‘cogs now :,-(
Might invest in some of the ‘Masters Series’, however:

yeah, i know about the truper/sentinal re-issue - wasn't aware of the master series though.
i've not bought any vinyl for years, my djing days are long gone - still enjoy listening to good mixes though!
most music i buy now is digital releases from bandcamp. -

Doing the Discogs 'random pick' from collection today and this came up. Totally overlooked, still dirt cheap, techy atmospheric darkness. Pretty sure I first heard this one evening on my honeymoon in Australia in 2012 while doing some random browsing.
The comments are interesting, OG artist enters the chat and promises to drop some unreleased remixes, which doesn't appear to have been followed-up on :(

I kept coming back to this video breaking down Remarc samples (so sick):

and spent ages listening to this King Addies clash with Saxon from 1994 to find the "when me a murder sound..." quote, 1:35:20:

Deejay Babyface has a rowdy manner on the mic, no wonder he got sampled!

If you check out Haste on Instagram, he’s been doing a daily posting of Remarcs lately. Like this I never heard of before: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CtGsmWENXn2/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Just ordered a bunch of special 12s for that mix - and it will be a special mix for me as I need to recover from a bust Achilles before I can record it!
Who knows exactly when that will be. If it’s a month off, I’ll be happy! Probably two 😩

I can understand tracks missing from my taped sets, but how would there be an extra track in there compared to this guy's?
"I've got this mix, recorded off the radio, but the really bizarre thing that's doing my head in is that the 2nd last tune isn't in my mix. Between Peace Sign and Geni in your copy there's another tune, DJ Krust - Poison. Is it possible there could have been two mixes of virutally the same set aired on Triple J I wonder."

Do you know the name of the tune in the middle of the jungle set? Shazam came up with nothing.
Samples are : "I'm just an addict, addicted to music"; "break it down"; "you feel alright", "hello everybody" -

Could it be a situation where the set is spliced together - perhaps from two sides of separate tapes? So when it was recorded there was a gap - one that would be longer than you'd expect from flipping a tape over, as another tape was found and readied?
-
• #1621
I've got the raw set recorded off a single tape. It does seem to have some random shit in it so I could understand some of Sidewinder's stuff being recorded over other tunes or other tunes recorded over it maybe but not extra jungle tunes appearing "in" the set.
I definitely cut tunes out (3hrs into 60min tapes, do the maths) but this guy reckons there's extra tune in it which is odd. Maybe he's just forgotten it.
-
• #1622
Oh, you meant the other guys recording? That makes more sense.

I recorded a rave mix over one of my mum's simply red albums once and it bizarrely breaks into 'i wanna fall from the stars' or whatever he says part way through a rave track. We always used to piss ourselves when it came on and always sang the simply red bit.

• #1624
I remember a lot of tracks with the mistakes the dj made or the samples they added or the radio announcer comments in them "trip trip triple j".
They're not the same playing the "correct" version :)

i've been listening to this foul play album this week which is a compilation of their early stuff from around '93
some great tracks, maybe a bit early to be classified as 'jungle' but the origins are there...well worth checking out
https://sneakersocialclub.bandcamp.com/album/originswhich then led me onto this foul play remix of 'being with you'
Yeah that’s a Saville one. The little coloured blocks are a code for the album title, which is quite fun.
