  • Ride this Sunday, 1 o'clock at the castle gate!! Be there!!

  • I'm heading up to Aberdeen for work next Monday, will be there Monday to Friday (and some weekends) for a couple of months.

Will hopefully be bringing my bike up within a few weeks, so look forward to hanging out with a few of you guys - does anyone meet for drinks or go for rides regularly (esp on week-nights)? Sorry if this is already discussed in the rest of the thread...!

  • Hey everyone! I've posted this on the facebook group, but thought it'd probably be a good idea to post here too. Basically, im coming up to film a documentary for my course in digital media and was wondering if anyone would be interested in being filmed and interviewed to take part in it or just fancy a ride around the 20th december? I spoke to Bendudenhoffer and he said that he's mentioned it to a few of you but thought it'd be best to introduce myself and stuff. I decided to do it in Aberdeen cos i thought the setting would be pretty good and cos it's a relatively new scene, to show the community in a city known for being grey and oil-rich. I know that's gonna be the end of term time, and i guess a couple riders are students but would anyone fancy taking part, interviewed or filmed?
    Cheers,
    James

  • Hoping this weekend i will have time to build my back wheel to complete the hipster deep V look ;)

I hope you're all up for coming in a ride on Sunday the 20th... you've got no choice guys! Maybe say a little something for the camera, doesn't matter if you aren't a good rider, it's just to show fixed gear riding in Aberdeen!

  • Ride tomorrow!! 12 at the Castlegate!! Don't be shy boys!!

... maybe some pub action post ride lol!!

  • I'm making a return to aberdeen for the first time in over a year on Monday. If there is a ride happening let me know guys.

Any major pot holes to worry about? I don't remember the roads being worse than Glasgow.

  • There was an epic pothole on george st, it was like 2 foot wide and about 3 foot deep, city council filled it in within two days, but i see it sneakily appearing again lol! A few days after that i found one almost good enough to rival it! Can't remember where though... might have been a little intoxicated!!

  • How did the meet up go? No way I was going out in that weather.

  • Meet didn't happen... no one seems to like riding in this weather! Apart from myself and a select few others who are real men? HTFU ;)

Just wondering if anyone might be interested in a wheelset? Alex rpdis rims 700c rim, 3x laced to unsealed formula hubs (rear fixed/free). They are running straight and true and have recently been re-greased. They came on my fuji and were going to go on my pub bike, but i feel like building new ones for that lol!

  • Yo all..

Just join this aberdeen riders group, just knew the fixed enthusiasm of riding in deen...:)
Btw, I also reside in aberdeen, but i will leave next month and as probably seems no riding on this weather :(, I intend to sale several parts of my bike, such as B 43 white rims with formula hub, brooks B17 special black, Abus chain lock, Champ grips (grey), nitto riser b201aa Gold (nicely cutted for 2 cm), and several bits more..

Just pm'd me and will sent the pictures to you...

    Cheers...

  • new on LFGSS.

Long time fixed rider - been batting about town on my specialised singlecross with tan brooks , rack and guards and possibly panniers after my old puch conversion snapped a drop out on me :( I guess my unicycle is also fixed wheel ;) other than that SS mtb is what i do

used to work in alpine with stuz mentioned before at the tail end of last summer till i moved on to pastures new.

Always up for riding what ever the weather.

  • what do we think, anyone seen this?

  • And also potholes - my fuckity fuck there are some potholes in this city - I thought it was supposed to be made from Granite?!

  • Potholes on my route aren't too bad. All the big ones have been fixed now. Not seen any of those white lines.

  • Just got back from Paris via Edinburgh... experiencing severe bike culture envy.

  • I dont know if you are envious of Edinburgh's bike culture or just that of Paris, but if you want to come and soak up some atmosphere in the Capital, Edinburgh is hosting the first UK and Irish courier champs on May day and the full weekend. Come on down and have a laugh. Open to all, not just couriers. More details to follow if you are interested.

  • I would totally be up for that and would even offered aberdeen peeps some floor space in Edinburgh, but i'm going snowboarding in france and won't been getting back till the fourth of may :(

  • It will be good. France will be decent though, have a good one.
If anyone else is interested, details found here.

We have a hostel in the centre of town booked, so no hassle for ya sorting somewhere to stay.

  • Hi,
I'm from Inverurie and am looking to build my own fixie for commuting on my brothers advice (he currently has a langster).
Does anyone know where I can get a bike/frame suitable for conversion as I'm trying to do this as cheaply as possible.

    Cheers

  • BICCC sounds cool. I might just come if I got the time.

  • Who was I chatting to as we rode down Union St on Sat?

  • probably that teenage hottie youre after.

  • To those people i have seen walking Create/Unipacks along Union Street:

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAH!!

    That is all! Peace!

  • I've now moved even further away from the city, out past Ellon now. But I am still commuting into Bridge of Don on fixed gear - a 38 mile round trip.

(I am going to get a bike with gears though, climbs and winds are a bit much for me over that distance).

  • Oh, btw, i still have wheels to sell!! And i'm going to be fitting a new rear sealed hub! They are currently sitting unused on my pub bike and have seen no riding since november, since then they have been trued and re greased, however mishap with the rear wheel means lockring threads are buggered! So Alex rpdis 32 hole rimes laced 3 cross to front formula and soon to be on one (rebranded formula) rear! I'll even chuck in a cog if i can dig one out of the moving boxes! £70 ono!
