oh I have an old little tv somebody could have for free... not a flatscreen, and I think the dvd player scratches disks. Fine for a small tv for a bedroom or something though.

would anyone be able to reccomend me someone/could someone come to my house and paint my walls and ceiling cream and white? £50-£75 all in im willing to pay. not a massive room.
any suggestions on how to resolve this would be great. i just dont have the equipment/skill/patience to sort it

I could probably get hold of some painting equipment if you could be bothered to buy the paint and do the painting?
Also, does anyone here have the skill/tools to put a new thread in a front mech of mine?
-
• #1708
IANAD but I think the only equipment you need is a brush. And maybe a chair to stand on to reach the high bits.

would do... however I just found out my friend (who owns the painting stuff) is in Switzerland, and by the time he gets back I'll be spain. So I might not be able to help for a number of weeks, might be less trouble to find something else? Sorry!

What bit needs threading?

Ratedpeople - you post a job and the price you want to pay, tradesmen bid to get the work (cheap and cheerful, but for one room, it's a good option...).

What bit needs threading?
The cable clamp. I would use a nut and bolt, but there isn't enough clearance for a nut!
-
• #1718
Half nut? Or grind down a whole nut?
-
• #1719
Not sure there is enough space for that either... It may be possible with a severely ground down nut, but it would be a less practical solution I think

What mech is it? Have you got a pic?
Is there even enough metal left that you could retap the thread? Or could you drill it slightly larger and then tap a new thread and use a slightly larger bolt? I'll check what size taps I have but I think the smallest is M6 which is probably way too big. Taps are fairly cheap in Mackays though and I can lend you the handle. My guess would be that the next size of bolt will be too big for the metal you have left?
Other option is to use a nut and bolt the other way around with a countersunk head and countersink the back of the clamp so that you don't need any extra space behind it, and then the bolt is on top?
Or just take it to BA...
-
• #1721
Actually could you just run the bolt through from the back to sort the thread?
-
• #1722
I was thinking along the lines of drilling it slightly larger first. BA is another option too... Pretty sure the thread is gone but I'll try it from the back and get a pic in a bit. It is an old Dura Ace one
-
• #1723
Not as much room to drill a new hole as I thought... damn. Tried it from the back, it is not any use.Countersinking may be the best option in that case? I've never done that before. Perhaps I should just suck it and take it to a shop

Anyone have a 31.8 > 25.4 handlebar adapter/shim? Need to maybe borrow for next weekend.
