    9th May
    Oxford Polo Tourney
    March Cowley Park

The poster says 11 to 6 but ignore that,
the decided tourney time was 12 to whenever.

    Register by emailing tournament@bikepolo.org.uk

If you need crash space let us know via this email too.

This is part of weekend of events to launch the new O.C.W. training center so there will be a bunch of other event taking place over the weekend such as alley cat film screening, etc (I'll post poster as soon as I have it).

I know we are doing this really short notice but would be super cool if some people could make it down, or up, or over.

    xxz

  • Em?? Gabes??

    we are in, innit?

  • zoo I cant make tmw
work has thrown a curveball and i'm screwed!

  • This sounds great. I reckon Todd and MAT and I will be along.

  • It looks like Cambridge will have a few teams worth of people heading down for this. Much fun.

  • Em?? Gabes??

    we are in, innit?
    I'm down.

  • Waiting to here back form Jon, but I'm thinking we're in.

  • Em?? Gabes??

    we are in, innit?

    i'm also down.

    Rik & sons.

  • let's get therap[e]y.

  • i'm probably down for this - how much are trains to and from oxford

  • Was hoping to take the car to this but I'm out as the lady is moving house that day. Boooooo.

  • i'm down for it just gotta make sure can get some kind of team together..

trains are about £13 return on the day so i imagine if you book earlier you could get it fairly cheap.

  • trains are £20 return at the station (paddington),
Buses are nothing and you can fit loads of bikes on them and they run 24hrs round the clock.
    Oxford tube all the way.

  • Henry, where do you pick up the bus? and what company?

  • how long does the bus take vs the train?

i'd rather take the train... group save will get it cheaper than £20 return :)

  • sorry Henry's right i'm thinking student rail card prices....

train takes 50mins never taken the bus but from what i understand takes upto a couple of hours...oxford tube stops a few places in town but i don't know where.

  • Oxford Tube is what it is called, Rik. And it has a bunch of stops. Starts at Victoria though (I think that's where it starts, anyway).

I've taken it once. It's not that bad. Takes a couple of hours. But I prefer the train.

  • There's also the X90, which does a similar route to the oxford tube but is single-decker so it is allowed to go faster!

I think it is Victoria > Marble Arch (speakers corner), Gloucester Rd then onto the A40.

  • i tried taking my bike on a national express coach once and they were well arsey about it. i heard if you use a bike bag you can get away with it. i don't know how much room the tube/coches have i'm kinda more up for the train.

  • i just looked now on national rail and found a £8 return on the train....

  • if you've got a 16-25 rail card it's £5.30

  • Oxford tube is indeed the company.
Stops at Victoria, then Marble arch, then Notting Hill, then Shepherd's bush (by the hilton), then Hillingdon Tube.
Time difference is 1hr between train and bus.
The train is nicer for sure.
National Espress or X90 do not allow bikes on all the time.

Oxford Tube has almost unlimited space for bikes.

booking early on the train is the way forward.
but if you want flexibility the advance tickets are annoying as you have to take a specific train.

  • i just looked now on national rail and found a £8 return on the train....
    WTF - link?

  • I'm also getting 8 quid, Em. Just search the day of.

  • could get the 10.21am for £4 and then any of the last 5 trains at:

    21.38
    22.08
    22.30
    23.01
    23.08

    for £4.

i'm gunna come up for the tournament and crash at a mates house.

[edit] there are more than just the 10.21am train for £4 i just thought that was a good time seems as it gets in just after 11.
