i know this ain't garage or whatever but i reckon the folks on this thread have great taste in music are the only people i can think of right now who might give half a fuck but I JUST MET ALEX CHILTON!
what a sweet dude. just saw big star (alex and jodie with two of the posies making up the awesome, awesome band) supporting the tindersticks. i really don't like the tindersticks (understatement) and left after big star but was rewarded with running into alex wandering about the outside bar area in a little corner of sunny hyde park. i promise i've never done this before to anyone but i collared him, gushed a little bit and took my picure with him. hehe.
amazing gig. amazing dude. such a shame the stupid crowd didn't know or care who there were. although i suppose it was kinda cool cos i got to stand the front hollering along and chat with yer man afterwards but... i dunno. so sad really. they started 15 minutes early, about 10 people seemed to know the songs and during their set, which probably only a couple of hundred people bothered watching. someone actually shouted out "who are you?" to which alex sweetly and totally unphased replied. "oh, i forgot to say, we're big star". i probably shouldn't have, but, giddy and stuck for words i mentioned it when i was talking to him and he just said "i guess someone didn't know" and smiled.
gig of the decade.
puts #1 record back on very very loud
i'm so happy right now.
