someone absolutely lips to the floor on the road around 7:30 this evening at the crossing at hancock museum. Police, ambulance,,,, hit by car? Was lying on the road still in riding position, bike looked bianchi green, not sure if fixed.

Yeah I saw the same thing although by the time I got there he must have been in the back of the ambulance. Worries me when I see summat like that, hope he's ok

Just wanted to say hello as first post here, I know a few people riding fixed which I am sure some of you will know as well, but its fairly new to me as my knees just can't take skateboarding anymore and since a trip to San Fran 4 years ago have been fascinated on all things fixed

I will post a pic of my bike later tonight and I am up for getting together for a ride and drink in town sometime

Same. But I wouldn't be surprised, given the amount of people building bikes with no brake straight off. They seem to think fixed gear bikes 'have no brakes', worries me, that.

Spotted, people pushing bikes down hills all over Newcastle.

I remember you mentioning a front brake on my Twitter just before I fitted one and it makes such a difference, plus adding some grips on gives me much more control now as well

I find going down hills is half the fun since I live in a valley you get used to it

Yeah man I remember, it's crazy, I ran a brake for a year to get fully confident, and didn't take it off 'til I could flat out some STEEP hills without touching it...

I don't get why people run brakeless, and end up having to dodge hills / find routes without 'em, no fun at all !

Im so close to getting rid of my brake now. The past few weeks i've barely touched it but I like to have it there to use in an emergency if need be. Im getting way more confident now though.

Who's the guy who blasts round chilli rd with an illuminous yellow back wheel? Seen him at the coast rd roundabout a few weeks back and locking his bike up at tesco.

spotted: No fixed or single speed bikes in Newcastle this weekend gone! Was there Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday until 5pm. Was around the city centre, the riverside, Tynmouth beach, Southshields a bit.
Only saw a LOAD of MTB monstrosities along the Tyne around the market area.

When I come again to visit my friend I'll be expecting to see some please! Nice bit of sea action up there though, the waves are not too bad!

Yeah haha, I rode to Killingworth from Heaton on Saturday night about 10.30pm and passed 3 fixed gear bikes. 1 just passed Sainsburys and 2 sitting outside the Newton Pub. I also passed a nice lad on a pretty battered racer who shouted "What you looking at dickhead!?"
