Bump.
I feel this guy should get some more credit and press coverage. Just had a look at his sponsorship page and he's only raised £38,000 - a very nice amount, but I think he deserves more for such a big achievement.

120 miles a day, that's a lot by anyone's standards. Also look at his youtube page, he looks totally knackered.

Too true he does look tired. Must be really hard to to keep yourself motivated to do that mileage every day. I'd do a few days then want to have a few rest days and eat stuff.

I'm a bit in 2 minds about this guy, its impressive, but he has skipped out a bit in Iran I think after getting hastle of some locals and is intending to miss out Pakistan and make up these distances in the US. I think he's concentrating to much on breaking Marc Beaumonts record and now he isn't even actually cycling round the world.
Fair enough to the guy though he is doing it for a good cause

From what I read on his blog, he missed out Iran/Pakistan cos its pretty dangerous at the mo. Not sure how it can be cycling around the world if you miss chunks out but I suppose that's up to Guinness. Fair play to him for doing it and raising all that cash though. He's in Thailand now (flew over Burma as well, but I suppose that can't be helped - as there isn't a land border that's open).

I gave the bloke a tenner today.

Just a heads up to say that he's currently on the south coast of Spain, just about started heading north.
Reckons he'll be in Portsmouth in 8 days.

Its a great effort. I gave him a few nickels too. Ive been to that part of world (Iran/PK) and its very remote. The fact its not governed in any meaningful way by central gov makes it doubly hard to be on a bike in the middle of the desert. After BEaumonts near miss and, apparnetly, a worsening situation, its pretty reasonable to give it a wide bberth, esp if he's on a tight deadline.
If you really want to cycle round the world without any breaks it would mean at least crossing the frozen Barents Sea. Don't fancy that much, but could be done using a pedallo if it warms up a bit? I think its just a case of racking up milage equivalent to the earth's circumference or some such.

I agree with the "looking dull" bit. The tele program about him was not very good.
Going across OZ just looked horrible...double so if you get a head wind on one of them long long straight roads.
But good luck to this guy the sense of achivement must be amazing when you finish...record or not.
