On a related note, I did Lau-gar style kung fu for years, but i'm thinking about taking up Wing-Chun, anyone know of any decent evening/very early morning classes around South London?

get onto the UFC site and there's a live stream being provided for the UK and Ireland.
Weigh-Ins live at Midnight tonight, coverage from 9pm tomorrow night with the event at 3am
Sucks that it's having to be streamed as I don't have Sky but there's no way I'm missing this

Well up for watching some UFC tomorrow even if it is streamed.

3am? I'll be in work around then so perfect for keeping me going through the night, what's the site for streaming?
-
• #59
Yup, doesn't cost a penny, anyone with a computer and t'internet can watch for free.
go here: UFC.COM
and at the top you'll see a banner saying "Live & Free click fo details", you'll then go to a new page where you'll need to install Microsoft Silversomethingorother to makethe player work and then you're in business.
I had the browser open last night and it just kicked in once they were transmitting, you can choose either 300 or 600. Even on my 10 year old shitty laptop on 300 it was flawless.
Seriously can't wait for tonight, Mir is looking shredded as is Bisping and Alves.

Hendersons knockout was so good, especially the replays of the second punch when Bisping went down like a sack of kittens.
First time I've seen St Pierre fight (where the fuck have I been?!), good bjj technique and fair play to him for carrying on through the fight with a pulled muscle in his crotch.
-
• #63
tru say, Bisping was sparked out propa..!
God knows why he he kept circling to his right tho..esp when he could see the danger of it.Next up is Henderson Vs Silva (if they can sort it) ~ now that will be a match fo sho
-
• #64
now that will be a *RE*match fo sho
I eventually managed to watch this at a buddies the other night; I was hoping for Sexyama to get involved with the judo but just didn't seem to close the distance enough. GSP was flawless but I was gagging for Alves to turn it into a stand up war.. oh well, there's always a next time.
Brock Lesnar is a bellend. The sooner Carwin or Fedor ruins him the better.

Roid Rage for sure. Why the hell would you tell the entire world that you might have sex with your wife that night? I wouldn't even tell my mates down the pub!
I bet the Zuffa guys were sitting there with the heads in the hands at that point..

A question for those familiar with MMA/UFC etc..
Why is it that these big 'mma' fights only ever seem to be kick boxing/submission wrestling.
Why do you never seen any kung fu?
Is it because anything else is overcomplicated, pretty but ineffective or is it because such techniques would be too dangerous for use in a sporting competition?
-
• #73
just that they are not very efficient
watch early UFC's when it was people from different disciplines trying to show their form was best
then Royce Gracie demonstrated the superiority of Brazilian Ju Jitsu
after that came the development of an MMA style, and kickboxing appears to generally be the upright style of choice

Pretty much because if you stick a Kung Fu guy in against a Muay Thai guy he's gonna get murdered. It's like taking a knife to a gun fight.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm a big fan of people having 'backgrounds' as opposed to the 'MMA' style; nothing bores me more than some one who takes them down and then ground and pounds them out over three rounds or whatever.. snoozefest.
James Irvin, Machida, Diaz brothers.. they're up there with my favourite to watch. Pretty well rounded but always go back to what they know
If you're looking for fight videos got to the likes www.myvideofight.com and www.mmalinker.com and you can search a bunch of them.
