I miss the Budokwai :(
It's a great place to train. Especially if you're doing the Judo. There's usually 2 or 3 GB Olympians on the mat.

Yeah I used to see a lot of Team GB in there, some BIG dudes to throw about!
It's a good club, nice area too :)

For sure. There are some monsters in the judo classes. Strong and fast like all judo players seem to be as well.
On a Tuesday we have BJJ downstairs whilst there's an advanced judo class upstairs. For awhile we used to regularly go up there for the last 20 minutes or so and do newaza with the judo guys. That was interesting (and fun)

just did my first mma training session today, seems I've missed this kind of thing a lot... (did thai boxing for 6 years or so)
Anyone know any good places to train/gyms in south london/croydon?
Also it's clear I need some shorts, I heard a few creaks/crack from my gym shorts and I'd rather not wreck em
I've seen these... any good?

"MMA" shorts make you look like a Tard.

better that than having crotchless shorts no?
what would you recommend?

I just mean your typical "tap out" shorts/gloves/hat you see the "bros" wearing.
Board shorts would do exactly the same job but have less faux tribal patterns and corporate logos.
Of course however, real men wear singlets.

I've found Manto and Sprawl shorts to be very good. They're also at the other end of the appearance spectrum from Tapout stuff which is very good as well.

cheers guys, noticed any real difference in qualites?
DFP I wear enough lycra as it is

I go for Koral shorts, check out the VT Pro's, going two years on the same pair so you know the quality is up there.

I also wear vale tudo style shorts, BTT ones to be precise but they're just thick lycra in reality so have a look at any of those and you'll be sweet.

to be quite honest I don't mind people wearing tapout if they are a fighter, its when you see dudes wearing tapout who are just wearing it to look "ard" is what annoys me.. Personally I'm not gonna wear it untill i can wear it untill i can call myself a proper fighter! you just see new kids coming in all the time in full tapout gear thinking theyre badass then getting schooled on the mat! rant over. I swear by evolution fightwear stuff, pretty sure its an english company and its great quality! my 1.5 yearold shorts are still going very strong and in excellent condition after washing nearly every day and heavy use.

need grappling gloves on the cheap
adidas? (not leather, but a brand I trust)
http://www.sugarrays.co.uk/shop/adidas-synthetic-leather-mma-contest-glove.htmlor lonsdale (leather, and usually good quality products)
http://www.sugarrays.co.uk/shop/lonsdale-super-pro-mixed-martial-arts-glove..htmlit's hard to find cheap grappling gloves. I just sent some vipers back to mmauniverse as they were simply awful. but if I get pricey ones murphy's law will make sure they go missing two weeks after I get them.

Didn't they do that with Bisping as well when he was on? Seem to recall seeing it at least sometimes.

anyone know somewhere around the putney/fulham area that I can do normal boxing, casually? The only places I can find nearby cost a bit, I would probably only go once a week/fortnight

The amateur boxing places here in Birmingham tend to be not for profit setups. Taking a token weekly fee for training.
Try and find a hardcore old school no frills place like this rather than some white collar wannabe warrior stuff or things in commerical gyms. -

There's also Fit Rooms gym on North End Rd that have a full-size ring + bags out the back where they run classes. They were more orientated towards the fitness crowd but there was regular sparring and so forth when I was going there.
I've got clearer ideas if you're looking for a Muay Thai gym...

That scares me.
Just stated doing kickboxing again ... I want to actually fight this time and this guy makes me feel like nothing ... lol.

Fedor losing again, the Strikeforce GP has just lost half of it's glamour.
What a beating though, he has come back from worse but he looked pretty brutalised at the doctors stoppage.

Bloody hell. I didn't see the fight. May have to go download it...
