i'm in for a bulk oil purchase

I'm not an expert and this may well not be oil that aspires to the heights described before (or be comparatively expensive), but I really enjoyed some oil I got a few years ago from The Raw Greek (they were at a food show):
They have quite a few stockists around London, although only a few do their evoos.

+1 in for a post-brexit high quality olive oil smuggling caper

Was this ever resolved?
I’m the market for some good olive oil, bulk buy.
-
• #36
Cheers.
Will have to drop by. -

Walked past that shop thousands of times, will have to give it a try, my favourite oil is Rincon de la Subbetica which is supposedly number 1 in the world.

So I bought some oil. 1lt was £16.
it’s not the best oil in the world and I would still buy the Rincon but the Embassy Electrical supplies oil is quite grassy but then has zero acidity which is what you expect as the second hit on the taste buds it does come with a real peppery aftertaste.
Was perfect for making wild garlic pesto.
It’s good value and something I would buy again. 8.5/10 -

Has the price of olive oil gone up in the UK as well? It's more than doubled in price in Oz.
-
• #40
Yes.
Drought in Spain who produce most of Europes oil. -
• #41
There you go then, I'll have to bring a few bottles back with me when I'm next in Galicia.
-
• #42
It’s mad. Over here in SG I can buy 2l of Borges EVOO for €20. Family in Spain is paying about 15% more for it.
-
• #43
Yeah I’m using Rapeseed/canola oil at the moment. Olive oil…even the shit stuff is twice the price in the U.K.
-
• #44
So we're paying A$15 per litre, we're probably getting a better deal than my folks back home!
Another of those things I don't understand about economics. Like buying Queensland grown ginger in Galicia for a fraction of the price I pay over here. It's weird.

Exactly. Makes zero sense considering the shipping cost etc. in general groceries here are ridiculously expensive. Wish we had Aldi or Lidl.

2023 was a tough year for harvest in Italy, according to Jonny Greenwood who's got a side hustle in olive oil production. Next harvest in October apparently.

His stuff makes that Tesco oil look quite good value.

So it's double the price compared to Oz!! How does that even work? I paid AU$64 for a 4L tin of Spanish EVOO a couple of weeks back.
The cunty part is that Australian EVOO manufacturers have upped their prices as well, a fucking bonanza for those price gouging wankers. Not that I'll go anywhere near their crappy oil.

Looks like a fucking aftershave!
A few weeks ago he South American did a paella with the new harvest, and the paella was a treat.
