Our favourate was wrapping as many rolls of paper caps as possible, tightly, around a penny.
Then one day we stood between two high concrete walls, in the dry section of a weir. Threw a beast of a cap bomb at the opposite wall, and then all 4 of us collapsed from the shock of the sound, which eched madly. One guy tried to get up and was so dizzy he feel in the river.
The whole thing lost its attraction after that.
Oh good lord I am giggling mightily at that. I have my own cap fuelled moments as well. Cap bombs FTW.

Boom! He's like a bicyle version of Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Funny how he mentions the seatstays accusing other companies of bullshit. He's ignored the copyrights that cannondale and pinarello have on their seatstays where they introduce curves into the tubes.
I don't doubt that he's an intelligent bloke but I could
arguediscuss several aspects of that frame with him. -

guy doing the interview doesn't seem to know a lot about bike. You'd think they'd have hired someone who knew a bit about the topic for a bike show

^^^Does he accuse other companies? Or does he just say "there's too much rubbish spoken about vertical compliance"?
My only gripe is his pronunciation of hyberbole :)

I don't catch your meaning; are you saying that there is data supporting vertical compliance from C and P? Just asking for clarification.
-
• #7641
What i'm saying is that a straight tube isn't going to flex but a curved tube is going to flex. The only companies I've seen claiming vertical compliance on their rear triangles have been ones who have curved tubes in their rear triangles. I don't know if there is data out there, I haven't looked for it.
-
• #7642
Ah ok thanks.
I look for compliance mostly in my tires, I've never been able to tell if the rear stays (seat or chain) were flexing. -

I don't doubt that he's an intelligent bloke but I could
arguediscuss several aspects of that frame with him.The clueless guy assumes his bike (with straight stays) is vertically compliant. The other guy says that it's a misconception (in a few more words) and says that a triangle is a stiff structure. This in itself is assuming the structure exists in single plane (which is a simplification of course but a perfectly acceptable one), hence ruling out curved stays (curved towards or away from the centreline of the bike at least).
P.S. Not trying to argue as I know we're basically on the same page, just looking at it from his perspective.
