So you think that fixed gear 'freestyle' should be allowed 26yrs to make the tricks that have been already created for them look good?
It should be allowed to do what it wants.
-
• #153
I thought this was a pretty sick clip, i'll stick with posting stuff like that in the freestyle forum in future, god forbid I should offend people, or derail a thread......I mean its not like that happens often or anything.
-
• #154
I thought it was quite good. I don't think they should have shown all the fails though, or if they do keep it until the end, it's boring watching someone fuck up unless they reall hurt them self.
-
• #155
Nobody said they WERE offended OR that you derailed a thread.

Awww, they're all so cute when they're having a bit of a banter. Like puppies fighting over a biscuit.
Win all round.

So with the split tounge, can you move each end independetly? Always wanted to know.
My epic win- camera repair I thought was gonna be £300, is actually £65. Brilliant.
ha! I told you!

How is it harsh? It looks ugly as hell....am i supposed to be more impressed because it's being done on a big boys bike?
I just meant the 12 year old thing, I think that it would probably impress a 12 year old BMXer.
-

Perhaps a bit harsh.
I wonder how long it will be before someone turns Danny Macaskill doing a flare off of a tree into an animated gif, just so that it can be a standard response to clips that don't impress.
That's not even that impressive. That's been done years ago on a BMX. Jim C did a flair off a dirt mound about 5 years ago on a video.

But this isn't off of a dirt mound, this is off of a tree. I've jumped off of dirt mounds myself, but never trees, which makes the tree thing seem more impressive.

Its clear people consider Macaskill's flair off a tree to be more impressive. I can't say I've seen Jim C's flair...and that's the first I've heard of it.
Is it about the scale of impressiveness? are people only allowed to record tricks if they meet the standards of people on the internet? should they not even attempt them until the trick is as good as or better then a flair off a tree? -

No it's less impressive, a tree provides you with a kicker. In that video it's a fucking great, huge tree. It's clearly got a smooth transition to it. It's not like he even lands back on the tree, he technically does a flair off the side of the tree.
I'm not slating him, he's good, I can't do 5% of what he does, but it's not all that impressive. BMX has been doing shit like that for so long. Like that "big" transfer he does on the cobbled banks. It's nice to see, but it's not that big a transfer and those banks look pretty nice to ride. Ask a random person who spends a bit of time on the internet and they'll probably have seen his video. They probably think it's pretty impressive, and it's because it's been whored out across the internet. The same person who'd shy away if you suggested they watch some BMX videos, why? Because it's not a 5 minute clip that's been reposted 5 times on every forum.

Not at all. If you want to do fixed tricks I don't think you're stupid or think it's a waste of time, it's just not for me. If you want to mix BMX and Trials then that's great too. I just think this Macaskill lad has been hyped up over the top because it's a chunk of video in a manageable size that's got ridiculous exposure.

I wasn't really directing that comment at you.
Find me an equally impressive BMX video. I'm not saying there isn't one...I just want to see some decent riding :) -

That's who it was! I knew someone did, but I couldn't remember who. Ah man, The Gonz, what a character....

This is a crap argument.

Big things, tech things, I've always found the Road Fools videos impressive. Etnies Forward is one that left me feeling blown away when it came out. The Demolition DVD was good. I must have watched that about once a day for a good 6 months.

No it's because shit that's getting exposure now was done in the 90s or 80s on a BMX.

are people only allowed to record tricks if they meet the standards of people on the internet?
I think that's how it works.

Shit...i keep forgetting about the law the government introduced in december 1999 that stated you were no longer allowed to hate anything.
