That car hitting bike video - terrifying! But that has nothing to do with road design or lack thereof. It's just typical driver blindness or lack of attention. Glad the rider got away with it.
And inglorious veges is excellent. If people grew their own fruits and veges you'd soon realise mis-shapen things are the norm.

A brief moment from the World of Savage.
No names no pack drill. A colleague of mine was very recently on duty at a certain VIP’s home address. The VIP, let’s call him Flashman, was using his sit-on mower on his lawn. There was a graunch and something got caught. Flash drove it to a hard standing close to where the officers were located and attempted an investigation under the mower. My colleague saw his plight and walked over and being suitably endowed lifted the entire thing up so that Flash could remove the offending entanglement. On putting it down my colleague was bent over with his face inches from the seated Flash’s own and said “Well what about our pay rise then boss?”
Oh how they chuckled as did I. -
