  • Has Scoble now been Scobled?

  • Just handed in an essay THREE HOURS EARLY. That's about three days earlier than usual. pumps fist

  • Did you re-read it (at least twice)? squints Those three hours could have been used re-reading.

  • The poems had been re-read and re-written ad infinitum. The essay part was a critical commentary of my own work. It was as good as it was going to get, the marks are given for the poems anyway. It just feels good to make a deadline for once.

  • Should it not be a mildly joyous celebration rather than epic win?

Surely not failing at doing something is not epically winning.

  • How long did you have to write the poems? How many poems were required? How many words was the critical analysis meant to be?

  • 'Winning (Epically)'

    Deadline
    Tick tock,
Will this be finished in time
    Like the Olympic Stadium?

Grains of sand passing me by,
Words pour forth, I am distracted, I am focussed.
I am complete, I have completed, it is finished,
    I am done

    Epic

    Win.

  • I have a terrible history with deadlines. It was, personally, quite a win. Sorry if that's not as exiting as a .gif.

3000 words of critical analysis, between 20-40 poems depending on length, I had a few weeks but ended up still writing it this morning. Last time that happened I panicked, missed it and nearly got a fail.

  • I love the use of the "tick" and "tock" of a clock. It really got across the feeling of time.

  • What are you on about Mrak? That was a piece on winning, not time.

Tick and Tock are but arbitrary noises.

    Ping!

  • Sizzle.

  • Plop...

  • Dong!

  • Ahhhhh.

  • Ooooooooh

Maybe you should proof read your submission...

Authorial intention is only one aspect of meaning - and in many cases the least important. The perlocutionary speech act is as important as the illocutionary.

Your poem was about an immortal dragon.

A highly prescriptivist view of interpretation, especially considering that it's really your unconscious writing here (and your unconscious is actually Jack Benny). E-.

  • You guys are mad. Can't let people go running about making their own interpretations and piling their emotions onto other people's work (although rather spookily Mrak did channel the Dragon which has been a secretive but underlying theme in my work).

    Shazzam!

p.s. this is ENGLAND, stop using those strange Canadian words- noone can understand them.

  • Yep. sorry.

    Loved that chat!

pretty sure wikipedia has a very robust proofreading policy.

  • It's not funny because it's true.

Time - He's waiting in the wings
    He speaks of senseless things
His script is you and me, boys

Time - He flexes like a whore
    Falls wanking to the floor
His trick is you and me, boy

Time - In Quaaludes and red wine
    Demanding Billy Dolls
    And other friends of mine
    Take your time
The sniper in the brain, regurgitating, drained,
Incestuous and vain, and many other last names
I look at my watch it says 9:25 and I think "Oh God I'm still alive"
We should be on by now...

You - are not a victim
You - just scream with boredom
You - are not evicting time
Chimes - Goddamn, you're looking old
You'll freeze and catch a cold
'Cause you've left your coat behind
    Take your time
