Just had a little epic win:- Bought a used 16t WI freewheel a little while ago. Been thinking I could do with a tooth or two more on the rear so started looking into getting a new outer ring.

Turns out there's one bearing for the 16t version and another for 17t and up. Same for the seal and the lockring. £35 for a new outer ring just became upwards of £60 for all the bit I needed.

Bugger.

But then I noticed the 17+ lockring is red. As is mine. The freewheel I bought is actually a 17t, it was mid sold and I never thought to count. I only need the outer ring after all!

Does mean I've already been riding with a smaller gear since switching to the WI though so maybe all I need is dose of HTFU. Which is even cheaper!
