Really sad to here this. It is tragic.
So much more needs to be done to make London safer for cyclists. When are they going to realise that cyclists need to be properly respected and not side-lined. -

Two deaths on our roads this week is far too much unnecessary tragedy, and I would also like to send my sympathy to all affected.

Cyclist Jim Fleming killed in Gerrard's Cross, leaving orphaned son.. police looking for witnesses/information. I just saw this on the news and found some articles:

I ride this stretch of road most weekends on the way to the Chilterns and during that recent TT. It worries me that this rider was probably more visible than me and it worries me further that people can hit someone and continue on, leaving someone to die. Sometimes I hate humans.

Such a tragic loss. My sincere thoughts go out to her friends and family. XXX

Thats shocking. odds on that person had no insurance of license and panicked. remember the story about the men in leeds who went on an 8 hour drinking binge and killed a cyclist driving home. carrying him on the bonnet for some distance and then trying to hide the car!?
A straight ban for life should be the starting point, you can't blame lorry drivers but incidents like these i can't see any reason why it shouldn't be man slaughter! it's sick

and when in court, because he was so honest, his sentence was reduced to something like 4 years??

this just confirms to me that the only safe way to ride is away from the curb weaving about in the middle of the road getting under everybodies nose - but also getting in their line of sight - another poor, poor girl - another hidious death - it makes me fucking sick

man that's bad news, i really find it difficult not going out with my wife on the roads, we have almost been squashed a few times. I have been riding round this city for 8 yrs solid, on road bikes to bmx and i drive here as well. I spend a lot of my time in certain parts of the city on the footpath if truth be known, there needs to be warnings for cyclists and motorists that for one reason or another the area they are driving/riding in is unsafe and caution must be taken. So sad and so sorry for those involved
Sad news. Ride safe people.
